I've been doing some heavy research on the SCC. I'm tied between purchasing a manifold that's welded for the application or manufacturing one myself using the VW manifold and fabricating runners off of that.
I've read different ideas on runners. I'm not a welder so welding runners is lowest on the list. Someone used spring supported radiator hose, another used a silicone hose, and I'm sure PVC is an option as well. I'm concerned about sagging due to heat and overall functionality. I'm looking for ideas of what's worked best for your application but more importantly, what has withstood the test of time/wear?
Regardless of options, what diameter pipe/hose do I need to be looking for? One end needs to obviously fit into the rubber boot of the down tubes but also needs to attach to the manifold with some sort of rubber boot/hose clamp.
I plan on one more round of cleaning my existing 4 carb rack. After this, I'm moving on to the carb mod. I miss riding my GL and it's completely useless sitting in the back of my garage not running.
