Black was an original color and easy to find. Swap him a riding lawnmower for it!

...or offer him 4 or 5 and haul it away. As noted, it would be easy to restore it to black. Even the stripes are fairly cheap to recreate.

Does it being a Standard make it special?

I decided I don't like trikes, so I am returning the 84I back to two wheels. I am almost done with it - change rear master cylinder, bleed brakes, attach bags and trunk, trailer hitch, etc. Anyone want to buy a home-made trike rear end for a Gl1200?

I hadn't planned on taking on another bike before the teardrop camper build.

I was looking at this 87A as the next purchase, but don't know where I would put it or when I would find the time to repair it.

Decisions, decisions!! I retired to get away from that kind of pressure.

Yes.84 was the last year for any standard Goldwing. And it was the first year 1200 still using the 1100 style ignition. So yes it is kind of special.

Special... that depends. I wish Mother Honda would put out the total numbers of 84 Standards made. I've heard 5,000 and I've heard 20,000. I have yet to see a 5 digit VIN though.

At $700, that is almost worthy of buying just for the parts, but the post has been deleted.
