Tell him to look under the rear fender.

A friend of mine is looking for the rear wheel on his 1200. See if anyone has one.

I can check at my second shop to see if they may have a spare one. . .

84 and 85 are the same: 42660-MG9-315, while 86 and 87 are the same 42650-ML8-671. This thread speaks about the differences and the difference is in the hub size. I do know that as long as you keep the final drive matched to the wheel, an 84 wheel works on an 87 bike.

I do have a spare GL1200 rear wheel. How to tell if it is for an 84?

I couldn't resist the smart-ass answer. Sorry.

I'm in it for the jack-assery myself. Especially this time of year as all I do is look at my bike. Centrailia is not far at all from Terre Haute so if you have a wheel and are ready to sell let me know. Wish I knew for certain how to tell if it is the right one. In fact there is very little I know for certain.

In my previous post, I wanted to include this link... https://classicgoldwings.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=9543

For wedoo2 & friend: Does your bike pull a trailer? I'm 110 miles away via I70/57 to the Salem exit, then 10 miles to my place.
I have two rear wheels; one with the final drive and one without. Final drive one - $40, wheel only - $25, Yes, EBay charges a lot more but I don't have that much in them.

Pull the rear wheel (under the fender) and bring it over so we can make sure one of these will fit.

I will get in touch with my buddy today and let you know. Sounds like a deal to me.

I talked with Joe last night and he wants to talk to you. If you want to send me a PM with your phone number we'll get this going. Thanks so much.
