When it rains... I put it all together and it is dripping under where the thermostat is. Is it likely I cracked the thermostat housing? I can't see to pinpoint the leak, But I suspect I may have cracked the housing when I put in the thermostat the first time and tightened the cover. I have since had the cover off and re-positioned the thermostat and it stayed in place with the grease trick.

If it's an old O ring it could be flat, or maybe the O ring got dislodged from the groove when putting it on. Same trick with grease to hold it in place.
Yep what he said! And look to see if a piece of junk got on the O ring. Any dirt at all will gain you a leak.

Glad ya got past that hurdle now just be sure the coolant system is air free. Burp that baby! :smilie_happy:

As far as burping goes, I run it till its hot, let it cool and fill, then repeat as necessary, does that sound right?
That's how I do it.
