Any suggestions on where to pick a speedometer, It also seem that I might need a new Temp and Fuel gauges. Went Riding on yesterday, for two and half hour Ride, the fuel gauge showed full, than we made a stop and turn around than the fuel gauge read a quarter of a tank. Scary especially when my Buddy ran out of Gas on the Ride. Then we took back off after Victor came and put gas in my Buddy tank. We kept riding for about twenty more minutes and the fuel gauges went back up to full, so i'm thinking new gauges. I stop at the Gas Stations and put 3.2 gallons in the GL1100i.

If the gas gauge stops working and you end up having to switch to the reserve tank, you should easily be able to go 30 more miles before sucking out the bottom of the tank.

Sounds like you need to clean the fuel sender. Take it out of the tank and let it soak for 1 hr in distilled white vinger.
If that does not work then look for new gauges.

Wilcoy02, when removing the Sending Unit, does the Gas tank need to be empty.

Thanks for the information on the RES tank also mcgovern61

brianinpa, yes I still do need one for my GL1100i.

wilcoy02, thanks for the instruction on how to go about that process.

I'm wondering if its just the 7 volt regulator messing up and intermittently putting 12 volts through to your gauge.

That would make it show full for sure.

Goldwingdocs sell a solid state unit for about 30 dollars, it's a real fiddly job but a lot easier than finding decent gauges these days.

That's the problem. And guess what RuDogGL? I'm going to give you one. I have one and I don't need it. I discussed wanting to give it to someone in the MODS forum. But I wanted to be sure it wouldn't just end up on someones shelf as stock ones are hard to come by. So since I can tell you're kinda new to Wings it's yours. PM me your addy. One thing, I won't be able to send it to you until after the 25th, my CFO has cut me off until then.

RuDogGL.

Did you happen to notice if your temp° gauge maxed out at the same time as your fuel gauge?

That would would be proof positive it's the 7v regulator.

Omage Man, Thank you very much.

Chilidawg, the Temp Gauge reading was a little under half when I notice it, but my focus was completely on the Gas Gauge you know. I was two hours away from home and My Buddy ran out of GAS shortly before I notice it.

That would prove that I need a Regulator and Speedometer replacement if the Temp Gauge was reading Hot at the same time.

Hey RuDogGL, pardon the way Off Topic here, but if you don't know about the connection failures that can kill your stator ask about it in a new thread in the "Electrical Forum."

~O~

Know, that is new to me Omage Man, so I will do just that.

Yes, as Omega man said, that would be proof positive that you need the regulator.

But I'm not sure why you think you need a speedometer?

Read through goldwingdocs.com link I sent.
