My tach cable broke so I replaced the cable and outer casing.

Now my tach is screaming when I start the bike and while riding. It goes away and then comes back. I have reworked the cable thru the bike in different ways thinking the cable was rubbing or curved too much.
The od light is not coming on in top gear either.

Is my tach giving up the ghost?
If so does any one have an 83 tach laying around?

Thanks for any input.

Is it screaming from the gauge or around the fuel pump? May be a stupid question.

You could unscrew the cable from the tach and squirt a little silicone spray in there 1 to 2 seconds

Mine was screaming but after lubing the bushing with ATF it's been quiet a few years.

But that does require removing the tach and dripping oil down to the bushing. With tach face down. Best way in my book.

I sneaked it in using a tube on a funnel. With the windshield removed it's a lot easier to see what you're doing. Lay a rag below to catch the drips.

A 1983 Honda Gl1100 Goldwing.

How much atf should I try to get in there?
I have a syringe that will shoot fluids pretty good.

I will give it a shot as I really do not want to find another tach.
Will that make the od light come back on?

All the bushing needs is a few drops. No idea if that will get the light working. Maybe the circuit is fine and the bulb is simply burnt out?
