Whats a healthy compression range for a gl1200?
If it's been sitting? Anything near 100psi. More important they all read close. Once it's been run a while compression is near 150 psi. If I am remembering correctly. "A while" could be several hundred miles.

Doesn't pay to cut corners. Don't know what I was thinking on trying to clean tank while on the bike. Tank is full of rust. Removed from bike and soaking nicely.

Is it too late to tell you GL1000/1100 single carburetor manifolds fit the 1200 if you use the Gl1000/1100 manifolds A & B on the 1200? They bolt on fine; but you must plug the secondary air system holes in the head, which doesn't affect the performance.

I know; "now you tell me!!"

Ah, the newest build! I looked through MK2, saw you sold MK1, and am looking forward to seeing how you bring this one back to life. :)

Thanks, this is truly a beautiful machine and I am very fortunate that it has been taken cared of , with the exception of the accident.

I have the tank back in the bike. nice and clean and topped off with some well doused Stabil fuel. I'm still awaiting the carbs back from rebuild shop. Purchased a replacement fairing , so, pretty soon I can get back to the rebuild but only on weekends as the weekdays are just too busy :heat:

Spent 6 hrs yesterday transferring wiring and such from wrecked fairing to donor fairing. Lots and lots of wires but appears as though po made some some changes. side marker lights are real not just reflectors. also a bunch of switches that are not stock so will see what they do. pictures coming soon.

Lot of work but I'm getting close to completing fairing

Wow ! These are pricey on ebay. I won't really have a use for it. appears as though it connects to some wires too.

I was cleaning the fuel sending unit a few days ago and when I placed it back into the tank (recently cleaned) I wondered this.
What if there was a short in the wire that sits on the sending unit. Why do these gas tanks never blow up, whether it be on a car or motorcycle?
