So I ordered my parts and I've had them on hand for a few weeks now. I just haven't had the time to work on the bike because SHMBO wanted a bathroom renovated before Christmas. Well, the bathroom is done, so it is time to get to work on the bike but the temps took a dramatic drop sooner than expected, so maybe I won't be working on it too soon.
Because of that, I have decided that now is the time... What time? It's time to order more parts.
First on that list was the conversion parts to mount the C5 on the back of the left head. While it is off, I'm going to be drilling and tapping the cam shaft, so now is the time.
Second on the list, is a new carb! I liked how my 81 1200 ran with the 34 Pict 3, and I had the jets figured out, its just the carb was hammered: choke butterfly didn't turn, the fast idle plate was removed by me since the choke didn't work, the float actually sank because it was filled with gas, etc. I decided it was time for something new.
I got it on evilbay. It looks better than some of the other aftermarket versions, so for the price I decided to give it a try. They wanted $61, so I made an offer of $55 and the countered with $58. I figured why not. Then I found their website.

Installing the C5 shouldn't be an issue other than finding space for the coil pack, butsince I am changing the carb out as well, that should provide some more room. Changing the carb... well with any luck the setup on this 87 motor will be the same as it was on the 84 motor that it was on.
