wel i just ordered a prelude fuel pump for my 1200. seems like its pretty easy install. hopefully it will be better than the other pumps off ebay. most of them have quit after 200 miles.

Could you please post a photo of the installation once you're done? You don't hear a lot of reports of trouble with the OEM 1200 pumps which still seem to be fairly commonly found used. I put one I had from my old 1200 onto my 1000 and even picked up a cheap spare - which works fine - and hadn't anticipated changing tht plan.

...but having a very good, reliable pump that's newer than 30 years gives some peace of mind even though the originals seem so durable.

i dont mind the price so much. but i am tired of replacing fuel pumps on the side of the road. not the best of conditions with cars whizzing by.

Then, in my mind, new Honda OEM for the application is your huckleberry. They're just now starting to show signs of failure after 30 years!

Exactly, just replaced mine last year (15), and it was still working (just making a lot of noise). So if the new lasts like the old, I'll change it in 29 years.

I have one of the original 1200 fuel pumps I had been using to feed the 1200 motor and the 1100 motor before it. It still works fine. Was only once I found out I needed higher pressure for the single carb did I remove it.
If I wanted reliabilty for stock carbs I knew could be depended on, I’d get the original Honda pump.

Prelude fuel pump on GL1200 engine.

Black wire is ground; black & white wire is power. Reverse them and you will have a paperweight (Don't ask how I know).

Hmm. I actually like that industrial look. The 1200 pump is "beautified" and looks great, but some bikes (perhaps mine) would benefit from a more no-nonsense look on the pump. Looks like it went right on using the 1200 mount...which I now have on my 1000!

Is that a genuine Honda pump, or a cheap ebay alternative? I see there are some $35 ebay options. Chinese, I'm guessing.

Like this one maybe?
