I left home yesterday at 7:10 and took Schafer north to 7 mile rd. going west then took m-10 north. the thermometer on the mighty ST1300 was showing 48* it was windy and the wind had to be gusting 25-30mph, I could fog my face shield with my breath. I took I-696 west and merged onto I-96 west. I took us-23 north to m-59 and exited there for fuel, I'm pumping gas and thinking I should have dressed a little warmer but the weather goof said 61* today. with a full tank of gas I continued north on us-23 then merged on I-75 in flint, mi still heading north. I usually take I-75 north when going this way but being a week day i wanted to avoid the rush hour mess in the metro Detroit area. going across the zilwalkie bridge seem like the temp dropped ten degrees and the wind picked up ten mph but it had to be done

Water temp affects the temp more than people in cars realise, when the temp drops in summer the water radiates heat, same thing, when you reverse the conditions. Safe journey! :moped:

Always good to be back home after a long ride, be it a day trip, or longer. My own bed offers me a more relaxed sleep for some reason, must be a safety or insecurity issue of some sort, or other.

I made a stop in west branch, mi. to get a few burgers from burger king but the aroma from the onions was over whelming and I had to leave, I'm allergic to onions. I topped the tank off at the shell gas station across the street, I didn't really need gas but I could still feel the effects of the onions and didn't want a helmet on just yet. my next stop was in Gaylord, mi at extreme power sports to say hello to my salesman Tyler Clark, the guy that sold me the mighty ST1300. I made a quick pit stop at the rest area before making the final push to mackinaw city

I made it to the welcome center in mackinaw city at 12:32 and went inside to get a few pamphlets then rode down to burger king and got three cheese burgers, even though I had been on the road for over five hours I still didn't eat them nor did I drink anything. I rode downtown to get a sample box of fudge for mom ( that's why I made the trip ) then walked across the street for a few pic's

I rode over to michilimackinac stat park and went in the visitor center and bought mom a coffe cup, I was going to get a shirt but they didn't have one in her size. I took a few pic's while there. at 13:40i left mackinaw city for home. the thermometer on the mighty ST13 was showing 55* but with the gusty wind it didn't feel like it had warmed up at all, the only difference was I had a tail wind and rather than the cross wind pushing me to the left it was pushing me to the right

back in north branch, mi I stopped for fuel and to eat one of my burgers and drink some water I had purchased, it was all I had eaten or drank since leaving home. well the gusty wind gave me a break when I crossed the zilwalkie bridge on the way home, thank you!! in Saginaw, mi the traffic was starting to build up, it was rush hour and I was in the thick of it. I stopped in holly, mi and topped off the tank so I didn't park the mighty ST13 on empty. from Pontiac, mi. down to m-8 it was bumper to bumper stop and go traffic, it was really bad between 14 mile rd. and 8 mile rd. I headed west on m-8 then picked up I-96 going west and exited at Schafer rd, home is only about three miles south. I arrived home at 18:40 and unloaded the bike. I went out a couple hours later and covered the mighty ST13 so it wouldn't get rained on today. yesterdays trip covered 596 miles

Lot of miles for a single day, :good: how's the ride compare to your wing for long distance? :headscratch:

the ride is firmer and the narrow windshield had less wind protection but it is electric and can be adjusted up or down on the fly. even with the bar risers installed I don't sit up like on a wing so I say the wing is more comfortable. what the mighty ST1300 has is better gas mileage and a 7.7 gallon tank. I rode 260 miles a few weeks ago on one less than one tank of gas. a lot of miles for a single day trip? well lets just say I'm testing the mighty ST13 to see how it would be on an iron butt run, I want to do two maybe three next year

Good practice, & i wish you luck. :salute: Went to the Louisville Wing Ding back in 93 i believe it was, 720 miles in one day was enough for me. This I B stuff never appealed to me. :nea: But my kind of ride is mostly 2 lane back state roads. You don't average enough M P H to cover a thousand miles a day in my case, & enjoy it. Are you going to upgrade your suspension B4 your I B rides?

i don't think i need to upgrade the suspension yet but the headlight bulbs really need an upgrade. my IBA plans are to have a cert for each of the great lakes, i have certs for lake superior (my first IBA ride ) and a lower great lakes cert ( it covers lake erie and Ontario ). this years attempt for a lake huron cert was cut short due to a wardrobe malfunction so i plan to try it again next year along with an IBA ride around lake Michigan, those will be done a month apart

Nice photo's William.

I think 596 in one day is your record on the 1300 so far.
You've got some good endurance.
you are correct dan, 596 is my record on the mighty ST13, my endurance comes from riding bicycle marathons when i was younger, 200 miles ( sometimes more ) on a Schwinn in 24hrs. then in my early30's i drove big trucks across the country and covered a couple of Canadian provinces too
