The wife and I on the GL1500 along with another couple on their GL1800 and a buddy on his 883 Sportster are leaving June 17th and heading west. The other couple will ride out to Ohio with us to visit relatives. My buddy and we will take 16 days and travel to Yellowstone then down to Denver to visit my sister then home. This will probably be my "trip of of a life-time" so we'll take out time and see all the sites along the way. Anyone is welcome to join up for any part of the ride.

We rode out to Kompact Kamper last friday and ordered a Mini Mate camper with the add a room. Hoping to save money staying in campgrounds.

If you are 62 or older, get a Senior Pass. It gives you half price access to over 2000 National Parks.

For something old and different, stop and ride the Kit Carson Carousel in Burlington Colorado. It cost a quarter to ride it. Burlington is just North of I-70 at the eastern Colorado state line. https://www.kitcarsoncountycarousel.com/

Arches National Park in Utah is somewhat out of the way, but it's beautiful. https://utah.com/arches-national-park

Include the Grand Tetons National Park in your Yellowstone itinerary. https://www.nps.gov/grte/index.htm.
If you're there on August 21 this summer, you will experience a solar eclipse.

The St Louis Zoo is awesome and free. https://www.stlzoo.org/

If you go thru Omaha, you may want to stop at the Henry Doorly Zoo.

If your route goes thru Minnesota, take a look at the Mall of America in Bloomington.

In Denver, make time to go to Loveland Pass (11,000 ft+) and to take the cog train up Pike's Peak. Have warm clothing!! https://www.pikes-peak.com/

Another neat place near Denver- https://www.buffalobill.org/. Museum and grave site.

50 years ago, you could take flashlights and check out the old mines above Denver. Not real safe, but very interesting.

You might visit a ghost town or two. https://www.colorado.com/articles/colorado-ghost-towns

Sounds like a great trip. I always regretted that my brother Kim and I did not make Yellowstone in 2013 on our "great ride". Unfortunately that was part of the 10day schedule and we only ended up with 6 1/2 days. Hopefully next time! :beg:
Looks like you will have a really comfy setup with your new camper trailer. :salute:

You are making me jealous! You say you ordered it. Does that mean you need to still pick it up?

Yes we will be picking it up. Just waiting for his call. He told us 2-3 weeks and that was a week ago Friday. The wife is excited and looking forward to loading it with camping supplies.

I am forced to look at those trailers with envy every time I ride by the place. I am about 5 miles away from them. When you come to pick it up, let me know and maybe we can figure something out.

My long road trip buddy for the last 5 years or so (we've covered probably 15k miles on various trips) used to pull a Roll-a-Home behind his Valk and '05 Goldwing. Nice rig, but long. He sold it and now regularly pulls a Unigo. While not a camper, that Unigo gets more attention than you can believe. Personally, I'm a tent man. I can't warm up to the idea of a trailer. But, that danged Roll-a-Home was something else. Storage galore and quite roomy when set up.

Plans have changed. Yellowstone is out. The wife and I are leaving in two days for Lake Norman N.C. We have reservations at a KOA Sat. night there. Sunday we're headed to Dollywood. Monday to Memphis. She wants to see Graceland. Tues. to Branson Mo. Wed. we'll make the run into Kansas. Hope to be in Denver Friday night the 23rd. The Mrs is happier now going this way. That means I'll have a happier ride too. :ahem:

I'll try to post pics along the way to share some of what we'll see.

Here's a little bit of the 15 days and 4265 miles
