Just a quicky. I used to regularly post on Goldwing facts. I've now grown out of the chatter. I now need a new arena. One that is more akin to my old lady. Thanks and look forward to seeing more of this forum

Glad to see so many old faces. BrIan, I remember you as I also remember Dan fylippe. Sorry for the spelling.
Glad to be here.
The reason for my signing up is that I nearly lost interest in my old girl. She had sat for a year. Just no time.
Circumstances have now improved and she is now going to get back on the road where she belongs. I just could not sell her.
I will post pics later but she is a naked gl1100 standard that has a fresh professional respray in fine black metal flake. Also re pin striped. She was totally taken to bit's. The frame repaired near the centre stand with new metal. The heads have been totally renewed. New valve guides and seals. Heads polished. New belts.
The main modification is the rear fender is now hung with an invisible bracket using the original mounting holes. I atraced it under the seat on the cross bar stiffener.
The end result is much cleaner.
I have a mountain of parts that serve me well. A lot are very rare.
My main tasks are a refresh of the front suspension and I'm replacing the rear shocks for aftermarket. The original showa will go off for rebuild.
I have twin braded front brake pipes but I'm. Looking for the original splitter as this just makes the pipes route better.
I have hand made stainless pistons in all calipers made by an engineer that specialises in model aircraft engines. No more corrosion.
My favourite bit is the tank flaps which I have coated in gold leaf and coated with shelac. Its so cool and though not to everyone's taste I love it.
I am not a mechanic but I believe you call me a shadey tree mechanic. I can do most things and have used many very good engineers over the years.
Niggles for me are the cooling and the wiring.
Glad to help and above all glad to here advice.
Happy new year to all.

Welcome to the fun. You may miss the drama here though.

When I had a 1000 and then SEi, I enjoyed Steve's site. Now that it has gone the route of so many others to the big guns, it just isn't the same (plus I have an 1800 along with my 1000 project). This site is much more like a decade or more on the Facts.
