I have participated and contributed on a variety of forums for, essentially, as long as there have been internet forums. (Coins, guns, fish, RV's, motorcycles, astronomy, audio gear, etc.) I've been riding for almost 50 years (coupla hundred thousand miles) and, in some small way, I guess I figure I've earned the right to speak up - regardless of tenure on particular board. Sometimes to a fault. I did that recently on a board that I've only been on for a couple of years. One of the "old-timers" with several thousand posts assumed that I was a "20-something" with an attitude - since my position differed from his. He really ticked me off. I mentioned to him that attitudes work both ways.
I always have always seen the forum format as offering an opportunity (right or wrong) for folks to express an opinion on something. Whether right or wrong, that format is valuable - as long as the blatant bad advice gets identified - without to much drama. Or arrogance on the part of those who have been in the trenches.
But, why do I mention this here?
Because in over five years on this forum, I cannot recall a single instance where this was a problem here. I might have missed it, but there are places that can be intolerable.
This is a pretty good place to hang out.
(Now if we could just do something about that guy Joe Drum) :smilie_happy:
