Does anyone know of an aftermarket backrest that can be added into the seat? I have one that straddles the seat, but the side supports dig into my wife's legs. I googled it, but nothing particularly comes up for the GL1000.

I'm sure I read of someone doing it. I think they bought the through seat style rest and made up a receptacle to mount through the seat pan.

The earliest model they make one for is the 1100, but depending on your seat, they should also work for the 1000. It wouldn't hurt to ask.
