Many are in far worse condition than I. Makes the major issues I've been dealing with seem pretty trivial. I hope all weather the storms unharmed. Going to be a lot of work to clean up and rebuild. :builder:

Oh tax money will flow as fast and hard as the water but it won't go to the real needs. Seems I read a full 3 cents on the dollar from donations to the Red Cross actually makes it to the recipients. If you are so inclined to help you may want to choose another venue for your donations.

I'm not sure that's true. I googled that question and found this on the first page.

The company I work for has over 150 employees in Texas that have been affected. We are donating directly to a fund in-house that is going directly to help them.

As someone that once worked for the Red Cross and responded to the needs of disaster victims of several major disaster that affected the people in my county, I know for a fact that it is not true. We had donations made specifically for a certain disaster, the money had to go towards that disaster. If money wasn't "ear-marked" for a disaster then it could be used for other purposes: blood banks, life saving, training, etc. But hey, the media never twists facts and figures to meet their biased agenda.

News on several channels yesterday said 93% goes to Red Cross. That's a more believable number considering the 7% is about right for "administration and processing". If my job was working full time for Red Cross, I would want to be paid.

Look if you don't trust the red cross and you actually wanna do something, check out the JJ Watt foundation.

He pulled in $20 million in 10 days.

For a guy from Wisconsin, He's a real Texan, #99.

I don't need none of your money, but I know some of my good friends that do!

Ya see just 'cos Irma's on her way to FL, don't mean it's all hunky dory in TX now, like the CA people would like us to think.

Joe, batten down the hatches dude, or get the fuck out a there, those are your 2 choices!!!!!
