I travelled yesterday to pick up a Shopsmith and ended up bringing this little jewel back also. Got all the pieces and it ran two years ago, belonged to some personal friends of mine so I know the bike somewhat.

Thanks Joel,it’s a 1982 CX 500 I model, don’t know what the I stood for but I know they made a C model and some others. One or two years they made a CX 650, just haven’t had time to study up on them yet. Get rid of the Turd and you’ll have plenty of room, these bikes are small compared to a grown up wing

We already know the answer to that Tony. :smilie_happy: Here’s a pic of what the Interstate model is suppose to look like. A lot of first of’s were introduced with the CX model. Someone was trying to go naked or cafe with the one I got but thankfully quit before it was to late.

They made them both ways actually. One was as a GL the other was as a CX, but they are all CX technically.

This is what I made mine look like and I loved it being a little wing. I sold it in Denver after I got sideswiped by a drunk as I was getting of the expressway he wanted to be in front.

The VIN plate says GL500 I so it should have had all the accessories on it from the factory I would think. They had a c model and a turbo model which I would love to find that put out around 100 horsepower. Probably rare as hens teeth. The c model “custom” was stretched out a little. First production Honda to have tubeless rims and it uses a single air ride mono shock for rear suspension with a pro link swing arm.

Yeah if it said GL, then it to me, it stood for Good Looker and should have all the accessories. I was tempted to make mine naked on several occasions with the plastics decaying and cracking so might be for the better it being naked.
