I didn't realise but for quite some time now I have been limping without realising. Friends that have only know me for the last 3 or 4 years have only ever know me with a limp as I have since found out.
2 years ago I went to the Doc but never really followed it up until January this year when I was having trouble sleeping. After X-rays etc it was confirmed that my left hip joint needs to be replaced. We have a public health system that we all contribute to and I was lucky enough to be accepted to have the surgery for free in the next 8 months. Unfortunately the type of surgery performed in our public hospitals is posterior hip replacement only. After consulting with the public surgeon ( who's does mainly shoulders, knees and some hips ) we decided to see a private surgeon who has specialised in anterior hip surgery for the last 5 years. I am booked in for a ceramic replacement hip joint on the 14th of December. The recovery time is greatly reduced for anterior surgery and theoretically I should be able to continue riding with only a slim chance of joint dislocations. :moped: :good:

Tha new ceramic replacement Technics these days is great Bro, my 90 year young Mom inlaw {Trick Motorcycle Dare devil in tha 40s}had it after being on a walker fer a couple years. She moves faster than me these days.Gotta watch my self now  Recovery time was remarkable quick.

I've had both, posterior and anterior. Mar, 2015 I had the anterior approach done. I walked out in 46 hours without a walker or crutches. Far less pain than anterior approach. I think I was riding in July. Overall recovery hasn't been any faster. They say I have something called "friction syndrome." It is where your body especially tendons and muscles have to re-acquaint themselves with the new hip. Try as they may to make them the same, they are generic and we of course are not. I am hoping the near future brings 3D modelling so the part they take out is identical to what they put in. I'm still pretty gimpy. If I do nothing, I walk straight. But I didn't get it replaced to do nothing. Best wishes. Do yourself a favour and prepare your house with as few floor obstructions as possible. They sell a few items to assist you. One which I found invaluable was a piece of plastic and string to put your socks on. I made my own using plastic with holes drilled in it. Google it and you can probably find it, make it, and practice before you're home.

When it comes to your physical therapy, ya get out of it what ya put into it. LOL, I'm sure the food alone will make you work your azz off just to get out of there. :smilie_happy: Good luck man. Oh yea, be nice to the nurses and they'll be nice to you. ;)

Last year I had my right hip replaced with an anterior approach. I'm up for my other hip, wait for it..........
Dec 14. Another anterior hip replacement. Good luck with your surgery. Recovery is very much a factor of getting what you put into it. I plan on working even harder this time. BTW I was riding my bike in April when the weather turn nice.

Good luck with your surgery as well. I will be having mine first and yours will be later in the day. ( international date line )

Thanks for the tip on the sock aid, I could use it currently. My wife gets impatient with how long it takes me to get my left sock on and do up my shoe laces. :smilie_happy:
