Ok, here's the question, ?.l bought an 82 swing arm thinking about putting a 140/80/17 on it,....reasoning behind thought is 130/90/17 are becoming hard to find or go to a 130/90/16 tire. Wanting the rim ,tire, I want will cost me to much..Do you all think this will fit,......the 1200 swing arm conversion is just to hard to find all the parts and well out of my budget. Thoughts would be greatly appreciated! !!! :hi:

Correction, ...size of tire should have read. ..140/80/17,...thanks Joe,.....they do make a tire but only one I came across was for motocross. .

Did you read joedrum's post on going darkside with a 1200 wheel? It was done on a very tight budget and he loves it.

hmmmm bob ,,,ididnt know they made a 140-90-17 tire if they do id say it will work ...problem with all 1100 swingarms is the brake rod stabilizer rubbing ....post yhe tire nyou found or link to it...82-83 1100 swingarms should work

Ok trying to correct this post, ...I'm running a130/90/17,... I was hoping to run a 140/80/17 with the 82 gl swing arm,...www.tacomaworld.com posts the difference between tires,.....
130 width 5.12 ......140 5.51
130 height 4.61.......140 4.41
130 diameter 26.21.....140 25
130 circum. 82.35.......140 81.11

Sorry for lack of information but this is what I found I in comparison ,....... think it might fit? ?? :hi:

Would a140/80/17 work,...by all info it's a little lower and a little wider,.......that's why I bought an 82 swing arm for my 81gl1100 thinking I have or will have more room. I know 130 series will work on my 81 swing but I was hoping to use the 82 swing arm for a bigger/ wider tire. I would love the 1200 conversion but finding everything seems to expensive for me right now. Thanks so far, :hi: !!!

The only things I see there that may be a concern are the width and height. There isn't much room to spare, but since you are changing the swingarm to one that already accepts a 140/90 tire, the width should be fine.

How much clearance is there between the a 140/90-16 tire and an 82 swingarm? That seems to be the question that needs to be answered to determine if the 140/90-17 tire will fit the 82 swingarm. The 140/90-17 is a little lower, but it is also a 1 inch bigger tire.

Beautiful  Joe,.I'm going to use a used tire. Thanks again, .....Winter project I'll post when I do the change.Have a great day and thanks again everyone. :hi:

I'm running a 140 90 16 on an 82 1100 there is very little clearance. Had to mod brake rod. And on right side it is very close just enough room. Jerry
