As some of you know, my Oldwing (82 GL1100A) developed intermittent engine cutoff issue.
I guess I need to redo all the ignition related wiring again but I need motivation.
Just redoing the same thing again is not interesting.

I have '79 cam shafts. How easy / difficult is it to move C5 from that awfully inaccessible back of the engine to left cam shaft?
I guess I need a housing for it. Is that all?

Also maybe I should install stock ignition in parallel with C5 so that they can be switched easily. I have a Weber single carb. Is there a vacuum port to hook up stock vaccum advance?

The C5 will mount right up to your 1100 cams provided you drill and tap the end of the left cam. The C5 has its own housing. A worthy upgrade! :salute:

Early cams are a good upgrade on their own. No need for vacuum on the C5. The two together will wake the old girl right up.

Yes I know C5 doesn't need vacuum advance but I am thinking about re-installing stock ignition at the same time as a backup.

Mine is set up like that with the stock ignition on the back and C5 on the head. I did this only because I wanted to compare the 2.
I have C5 on the 1200 head with a custom adaptor I made up from the original cup made for the 1000. Paul has since made a universal mount cup for the 1000, 1100 and 1200. It includes the appropriate length encoder wheel stud. The kit might be on his website, I haven't looked lately.

Thanks for the info.
I will definately have stock backup ignition for peace of mind.
Hopefully it should be just a matter of connecting different set of HT cables to the plugs and flipping a switch.
