desertrefugee bike is nice.....hooch needs some work to be consider nice looking bike ..but im getting there someday

Yeah, but Hooch just took you 2000 miles - and you ran with a supercharged Valk. Mine is not suited for the long haul. My neck is killing me after a couple hundred miles on my '78 now the way it's set up. (But I still like the look). And while it runs really well, it is no Hooch. It will not quite hang with my non-supercharged Valkyrie. My son has ridden it with me on the Valk. The Valk has a couple of minor mods, but is mostly stock. (Carb jetting, Interstate diaphram springs, ignition advance, headers).

The entire build is documented here. You can build one just like Hooch.

i am going to look.Under restorations?

Then just find a decent runner that "needs TLC". (They are out there by the hundreds...or thousands). Then give it the weekend of TLC it needs and ride the snot out of it. Or buy two. Ride the snot out of one and, bit by bit, make the other one look the way you want.

That's pretty much what I did. Found a clean '78 that the kid was in over his head on. Got it for a song and kept my budget lean and mean. It can be done. I'm into mine for just about $2000. That's a lotta smiles for the buck. They're great bikes - and you already said the motor "speaks to you".

I want to clarify on mechanical stuff.ive taken car motors and done rings, rod bearings, mains, clutches, transmissions.rebuilt a 80 model gs q
1000 dohc 4 carb bike.what im referring to is latheing things down to fit,welding-i know zero about welding.plus once a rebuild on these motors starts its easy to spend 800 on parts alone.
