Bought 2 seats on ebay one off a gl1200 and the other from a gl1500. Both seat covers were in bad shape and I got them fairly cheap. My goal was to gain 4" on the passenger side and move me forward more which works as I'm 5' 8" with a 29" inseam. Pics below show what and where I cut to mate the 2 seats. I made sure not to take more foam off than I wanted by going slow and continually fitting and trimming till I was satisfied.

I've seen posts about passenger seat space on the 1500 not being enough for some folks. My wife wanted a bit of space between us to stash her camera and other odds and ends that she could get to quickly when she wanted. Hopefully this will give others an idea of what can be done to eliminate the passenger feeling cramped on the bike.

If you get her riding with you more often this way it's worth the effort. Do you plan to make the cover yourself also?
