I would love to run CA 395. Need to get it on my bucket list.

On fuel range: With some caution, I think the Goldwing range will, for the most part, help avoid any undue drama with fuel concerns. But,
it's never a bad idea to have extra fuel out west, even though the 'wing is pretty long legged.

My Valkyrie, on the other hand, has given me a few pucker memories. Not as much any more:

I ran out of gas once in Baja on XT600 with big tank.
The gas station I counted on was out of business and the other one didn't have gas. LOL
Luckily a camper van with gas tank on the roof passed by immediately after.

You might check out these Facebook groups, I've gleaned a lot of useful info from them. These folks live the road. Minaminist motorcycle Vagabonds, also a southeast, southwest motorcycle Vagabond groups and one other called Motorcycle camping. They list their travels, campsitesqnd experiences on the road along with the minimal equipment they use.

I think he said 10 days, Purple. That would be plenty of time to "smell the roses".

My bad. One of these days I will learn to read things closely.

I like the idea of some extra reserve Darrell but in my personal experience that just means that I run out of fuel that bit further from civilisation.. :smilie_happy:

If I want to travel distance on Val more I seriously need to look at the carby tuning because I am about 100ks short of a CBR ( except the one my mate convinced me to mod the carbs on)or the Rats Nest.
Have I told you enough how much I like your hard panniers? :hihihi:

Thanks, Tony. The best upgrade I have done to this Standard. The Leatherlyke bags were decent enough, but not watertight. I found that out in Colorado.

I ran out of gas having to switch to reserve on a steep up hill grade with trucks to my side and coming up behind. I didn't know my heart could beat so fast!

That is almost like my ignition problem on PCH (as you know, turned out to be loose ground connection).
No trucks around but I couldn't move disabled Oldwing out of the way.

I thought sleeping in a parking lot was called "homelessness".

Not if you are in a RV.
