Not to, but on. Plans are to ride the GL1800 to Cumberland Falls Dupont Lodge for lunch on New Year's Day. I'm not all that tough - heated gloves and jacket liner make it comfy. ~80 miles one-way on some great roads!

Pulling the trailer hitch off the 84 donor, shining it up and installing it on the 86 Aspencade.

Brrrr, it's cold out there, so I wheeled the donor into the garage and set the temp for 55. :builder:

Well, we ALMOST made it to Dupont Lodge for New Year's lunch. Lafollette to Jellico on 25W was an experience that I'd just as soon not repeat. Had to adjust my line quite often to stay on clear road in tire tracks. When we got to Jellico, decided it best to jump in I-75 - which we did up to the 25W Williamsburg exit. 25W there was just too slick, however (I spun and fishtailed a little getting on it from the ramp, and was being REAL easy on the throttle) - and I knew that KY 90 through the park would be worse, so we turned back down I-75. Stopped at the TN63 Carryville exit to warm our toes and drink some coffee. Charlie (on the Can Am) headed on home via US 441 and I headed down 25W to my home when we left the slab in Rocky Top. High temp seen was 21 near home, with most of Jellico mountain showing - - on the GoldWing's temp display (that's Honda indication of You Fool! below 14 F). Lite snow from Lafollette North was NOT forecast or even mentioned on the morning news.

Anyway, had the New Year's ride (around 200 miles total) even though we missed the lunch @ Dupont Lodge. Kept the shinny side up!

Hmmm ... Speaking of which, I have some work to do this weekend on my not-a-Goldwing GL1500. I'm going to add some supplemental lighting out back. Will report.

Well, I got the lights installed today. Supplimental tail and brake lights. LED. Bright. I never was all that fond of the single tail light on the Valk. Seemed pretty lonely on the back of that whale. (Not sure I'm crazy about these, either, but I'll leave them on for a while.

You started the snow? Dang. Hats off.

I thought the same thing!

I did get out yestidy and fired up the 1500 and let it run for aboot 20 minutes. I've had a halogen light tucked up under the 1100 on the deck for several weeks, but the dang varmints have sliced the cover to shreds. I had to dig out a tarp to put over it to help keep the heat from just floating away...it was a balmy 17* here... :heat:

yesterday I took her for a ride to the parts store for some plastic safe electronic contact cleaner to try and get my clock button to work, still no workie but I did a treatment on all the handle bar controls,(air suspension cb and radio) they were sticky and didn't always work, now they do, smooth and returns to position

Here we are at the parts house(no selfie)

We did an aborted New Year's lunch run to Cumberland Falls Dupont Lodge. Made it to Williamsburg, but US 25W had just too much snow on it to consider, plus KY90 would have been worse. A nice ~200 miles at temps from 21 down to - - though (GL1800 shows - - below 14 degrees F).

Finally got time to work on the '78, since I have owned her I have never seen the volt meter go above 13 and that was at 60 mph, idle was always below 11. I dug the main connection out and here is (was my issue).Removed and soldered. And now volt meter show's 14+ 2500 rpm's (choke on)

Polished, polished, polished. In all fairness, I only do a "deep" cleaning once a year. Today was that day. I was prompted by a Show and Swap on Sunday. I'm only cleaning it since I get to park up close if I enter! It's always interesting to participate. Nice bikes are really common around here, so mine is pretty ordinary - but it does generate some interest.

For the record, I still have some detailing to do. Nooks and crannies and all that...
