Check the fuses and fuse holders first, Could try cycling the ignition switch full trow both ways several times.
 
Well, once you've made a modification that seems to have initiated the issue, there's not much we can do to help. As I suggested, take a real close look at the switch connections - if it's a double throw, you might have the wrong contacts connected. Otherwise, something else got disrupted. (Of course, check the fuses. If you shorted something, fuse(s) will blow.
