Finally put the rh carby drain tubes on Val. Gave the wheels a quick polish then rode out to a customers place to instal a Mofset RR on his methanol mini sprint car. Trip back was exciting after dusk for a few quick beverages at the Lions Den.

Installed a single carburetor manifold on the 84I. Watched the bottom of the manifold fill up with gas until it ran down the runners and killed the engine. Do you think carburetor work is required? :builder:

Always heard that it is the thought that counts.

Maybe just a tad. I'd smack it around some and pull the plugs to blow out all that gas and try again. :head bang:

Pressed the water system up with ~5 psi air to look for leaks. Soap solution didn't find any (although it won't hold pressure). Will listen with stethoscope tomorrow when the wife isn't using the washer and dryer in the garage.

After trial-and-error with the stethoscope, decided leak was on the thermostat housing o-ring (flat as can be - made a new one for it to fix) and mainly on the radiator itself. Pulled it back off and took the cardboard that I had taped over the coils off. Pressed up and it was obviously from a small hole on the edge of a tube. Luckily, it was at just the right spot to be able to easily solder. Back on and holding pressure well.

Took the radiator back off to touch up the paint on the sides. Installed the battery box. Pounded some nifty dimples in the rear fender for mounting. Sanded the chrome off of it and primed with etching primer.

Do you think there is any hope for this hunk of carbon and copper that was in the 84I motor?

Now shopping on EBay for a new one.

Found a new for $60. Starting to see why people go to external alternators.
