By using the Honda housing and converting it to C5 that allowed us to drop the price.
The CDL ignition has a bunch of small improvements and the VS coils are insanely high tech.
We are also coming out with a new coil that can be used with stock points (ditch the condenser).
A pair of them...
Hey Joe!
I'm still around although probably working a bit too much. Are you still down in Florida? Hopefully you all survived the storms ok.
Hooch needs to stay out of the salt water, right?
*NEWS FLASH*
C5 Performance is back in the Goldwing game!
As some may already know, we ran out of the Gen 4 Goldwing kits recently. Since the new CDL2 ignition fits inside the stock GL1000 points housing we've decided to shake things up a bit and save everyone some money.
The new Gen 5...
I never tried using just press fit with green Lock-tite. My biggest struggle has been to find a cheap engine in case the experiment fails.
Dean thought the bolts were a good way to ensure it would work. We are trying to decide if cam mounting or crank mounting will be best.
So far I think the...
I am working with a friend in Florida who added threaded holes to his GL1500 camshaft, so the C5 ignition standoff could be screwed in place.
Previous test parts were to be pressed in with high strength locking agent.
Next week hopefully the engine will be back in the cycle and we'll have...
We recommend 0.28-0.32" to start with. On high compression engines we often drop the gap to 0.020" or on LP (propane) we run 0.015-0.018" gap.
If you wish to run a larger gap on high compression but have fouling issues I suggest making small adjustments to the saturation map if you have access...
That is in the heat of our busy season but I'm only 6 hours north. I'll try my best to attend. Sounds like a great event!
If I take our motorhome there would be room for a few guests (air conditioning anyone?).
I believe the GL had two carbs with Valks getting the 6 carb setup on all versions.
I would leave the 6 carb setup as a tribute to Louis. Nothing looked better to this day than his Cushman Truckster with that setup!
I just missed a 1994 Goldwing on auction the other day. It sat at $800 for over a week, and of course I decided that was too cheap to pass up.
The bike was already mine (in my head) and I started thinking of all the trips I could take with it. BUT...other bidders thought otherwise. The bike...
We have one GL1500 with a crank mounted C5 but it will never be tested unfortunately. It starts and runs awesome but there will be no tire smoking test runs unfortunately.
I'm determined to have this kit finished by year end, but would still prefer to purchase an engine so I can be there for...
