    GL1100 Exhaust Baffles?

You probably already checked, but you might want to make sure there is none of the old baffle rust welded to the inside of the pipe. Mine looked like the thicker metal was supposed to be there - Until I chipped away at it and discovered it was the outer layer of the old baffle. Good luck.

    GL1100 Exhaust Baffles?

IMHO: They actually quiet the mufflers a lot. But, I pounded a rod through the center of the baffles to bend all the inserts flat against the baffle wall and then wrapped the outside with fiberglass. The previous poster might not have wrapped the baffles with fiberglass cloth, too. Those 2...

    GL1100 Exhaust Baffles?

It's pretty easy to find new baffles for the bike. The originals measure 1 7/8" on the big end, 1 1/8" on the tube, and 8" long. If you buy a longer one you can cut the tube off to the right length. It doesn't matter if the tube is too big around, but the big end needs to fit well. You may need...

    SPEEDO NOT CORRECT

I just searched for "electronic speedometer adjuster" without the quotes. I would hate to add a link to one and find out it was the most worthless and expensive model out there.

    SPEEDO NOT CORRECT

You can buy electronic speedometer adjusters for harleys. Not sure if they would work on Hondas or not. Cheaper just to add or subtract a few mph.

    clutch shift feel

I found out that slow steady pressure makes for smoother shifting on these bikes. fast shifting ends up being pretty noisey.

cracked LED dash plexiglass,,,, has anyone tried using

May want to try a few drips of acetone. Depending on your crack it may seal it and reduce the visibility of the crack.

    Radio work Am FM

You know, don't bother. The stock stereos have such low power that IMHO they aren't worth fixing. It is much better to buy a $10 to $20 USB/SD card/Aux 12v amp off ebay and plug in an mp3 player, or music loaded sd card, or headphone based radio then it is to fix the stock stereo. You will end...

    SPEEDO NOT CORRECT

All Honda motorcycle speedometers are 5-10% off.

    full throttle noise 2+4

Synch your carbs and adjust your valves before worrying about anything else. Both will give you the noise you are describing.

The soldering gun worked really well on 3 of the screws. I left it on for 2 minutes and the caps slide right off. On the #1 carb the cap simply fell off along with the top of the pilot screw. I think a previous owner or the manufacturer must have broken it and glued it back on. Oh well, it turns...

    SPARK PLUGS

In 45 years of riding I have never noticed a difference between brands of plugs in any of the machines I have owned - HD, VTX, Goldwing, 68 Triumph, Bridgestone 90, Mopeds, tractors, bobcats, airplanes, formula v planes, porsche, or cars. There must be some that are better since so many people...

    GL1100 charging issues

Just an FYI: When it is hot out and I am at idle my charging drops down to the battery voltage, too. I think just like a generator (vs an alternator) the stator needs a certain rpm for full voltage. If the bounce down to 12 from 14 at 3000 rpms is fast like a switch being thrown you have a loose...

    Off-idle stumble

I just went through this with my bike. I am not sure if what worked for me will work for you. I think the stumble is usually a sign of a slightly lean mixture. 1) How much seafoam did you put in it? You need to add about 1/2 a can per tank. It took 2 tanks to clear up my bike. And, the stumble...

I haven't tried it yet, but I think a person could use a dremel with a cutting blade and cut off the tab on the limiter. Once that is done, if the screw is free moving you should be able to take it out - If it isn't free moving like many of them, you could break it off. Might want to remove a...

GL1100: Source for single carb manifold

Thanks guys! I will keep watching classifieds and fleebay. I thought about using the Posa carb I used on one of my formula V racers - They are resistant to carb icing. But, with a maximum rpm of about 2700 I kinda think it might be too limiting. I can't rememebr the last time that 2700 was a...

GL1100: Source for single carb manifold

I searched the forum and couldn't find anything recent on who sells the manifilds for the single carb conversions for the GL1100. First, lets not get into a discussion on the pros and cons of this. I have rebuilt everything from airplanes to porches to jeeps to motorcycles to farm equipment...
