They're mainly cosmetic, though they do prevent stones from pounding your rotors and focus air on the caliper to keep it cool. There is a bracket on both sides held on by the front axle pinch bolts. The cover has two bolts into this bracket and then another bolt that connects it to the lower...
Pretty sure you have speedo gear chatter. When they get worn their not as smooth and tight as when new. I just replaced the speedo wheel unit on my GL1500 and it went from about a 3mph bounce to dead flat at every speed. I didn't realize it at the time, but apparently the nylon gears are...
One of the coolest things in art is the child prodigy! That young man is one. Notice the supple right hand stick handling! Hell, I'm not even a drummer and I can appreciate it! Here's another prodigy, not as young, but responsible for what is still considered one of the best live drum...
I have the same set as McGovern and have had good results. Since I picked up a MightyVac recently with a positive and negative pressure dial gauge, I'm planning on using it to calibrate the carb synch gauges. I've never done it this way but it makes sense, since the MightyVac gauge is likely...
Seriously, though, welcome to Classic Goldwings Forum! Plenty of us have GL1100s and want to help a fellow owner get his to its best running condition.

It's easier to get at the 1500 timing belt covers than the 1200's IMO, since you don't have to fool with the radiator. You just remove the three lower cowls sections, pull the warm air riser hose out of your way, remove about 10 bolts and slide the sections of the belt covers out their...
+1 to what The Hulk and others have said. Need more info.
That said, also check your spark quality. Pull each plug, ground it against a good ground and turn the bike over. Is it a snappy blue spark?
The reason I mention this is that that is what is wrong with my GL1100. Poor spark, which...
Agree with what's been said.
Pull the seat, pull the leads off the battery, pull the two wires connected to the fuel sending unit on top of the large round plate about 12" behind the fuel fill cap, don't be smoking, and tap the tangs of that large round cap with a dull flat screwdriver in a...
What is all this "Karma" crap? What those A-holes need is a big can of "Whoop-Ass" headed their way! There was a time when a good Aussie knew how to deliver one! Well, at least the Aussies have awakened sooner than we have....they just kicked their dim-witted liberal PM out the door and...

If things are hooked up right, I'd pull the offending connections apart, swear at them and threaten them with a pair of wire cutters, then reclean/crimp a bit and reconnect. :cheeky: :smilie_happy:
DON'T put a whole can in the crankcase, Man! Just 6oz. max and ride for 100 miles, city and highway. That should do it. Take a sample of the oil before you add the Seafoam, and then one as you drain the oil afterward. It doesn't just clean your starter clutch, it cleans ALL the nooks and...
Did you apply anti-seize grease to the pad pins when you rebuilt the calipers, and were the pins smooth, not scored? Another place the pads can hang up.
+1 Run 4-6oz. of Seafoam in the engine for 100 miles or so and see if it goes away, if so, drain the oil, replace the filter, and fill with Amsoil 10W-40. My GL1200 ran much better, especially shifting, after I did the exact same thing! Good luck!
