Thanks Dan for your time and all the help.
I just came home.
There was a traffic congestion on that hill around Hollywood so I couldn't test the engine response in 5th gear.
The gas mileage turned out to be 37 MPG. This is 90% freeway + spirited :hihihi: street riding we did.

For the record:

We tuned the carb as follows.

Primary:
160 air
105 fuel -> drilled out to 110

Secondary:
220 air
95 fuel -> drilled out to 105

And the result is fantastic.
I get "neck breaking" :hihihi: acceleration off idle and it goes all the way to the red line w/o a hitch.
I really feel the power kicks in after 4.5K rpm.

Now I need to swap that stock 80MPH speedo with GL1000 item. It's so easy to make the needle go out of range.

Oh and nice to talk to you on the phone Joe.
I will enjoy this for a while and put '79 cams in a few months.

Thanks again every one on this great forum! :music:

It was great to finally meet you skiri.

You have a great bike there. It runs great and I like all the mods you've done.

Upping the primary gas jet one step and secondary gas jet 2 steps made a world of difference. A fun ride for sure and very smooth power.

37 mpg average today is good for how we were riding.

I can honestly say there is nothing skiri's single mod needs now after we tweaked the jetting.

He's got the carb turned 90 degrees by using the riser/adapter and fitted so the electric choke is fully operational.

It starts right up every time to 900-1000 rpm idle.
Throttle snaps and revs are quick and rpm drops to a smooth idle.
I'm impressed. Good job skiri!
Your success makes me want to built one just like yours.

Thank you!
With this stamp of approval, I can start working on my next project, '68 CL125A scrambler. :hihihi:

That'll be a fun build.I have a real nice little cb 200.

Yes!
I like that "sloper" twin engine.

And this is a single carb setup also so it is related to this topic. :hihihi:
