The problem with this was there was a constant current draw of 11ma, to solve this I used a relay to switch the sense wire, used the original sense wire to trigger the relay and connected the other switching terminal to the green wire in the regulator plug (earth). The regulator always senses battery voltage and is not powered when the key is off. Only cost a bit of cable, some terminals, a 12v 30a relay and plug.
