Well I'm the oddball of the group I guess since I'm continuing to work this with 1" runners while everyone seems to be taking the easy route

For reference it would be helpful to everyone to post video's of how a single sounds and how it idles.
I for one would like to hear others to have a reference for how mine is doing.
Keep in mind this engine is pretty "loose" with low oil pressure.

I had a couple tiny vacuum leaks in the first video.
In the second video can hear an improvement in the way it idles after closing those up.

In real life it sounds much like a engine with a mild cam, not sure if that's the way it should sound.

Please post a similar video of yours.

This is my cold start video, no choke, 60 degrees in the garage.

What I have to do to get it running and keep it running seems pretty close to what others have posted in other threads, though I've never seen any video's to compare.
If this is not the case for you then let us know here since this is a comparisons thread.

Question....Am I missing something here? Why not use a choke? I know of very few carb engines that do not need a choke when cold.

I still think that Ford automatic choke would be ideal. Easy to set. Turn the throttle WOT once sets the choke and the heat from the heat tube turns the spring and reduces choke and throttle automatically.

you can keep the auto choke with a single barrel carb like solex, at least with gl12

I tend to agree here.

This thread is about single carb video's!

My special thanks to Dan and Joe Drum, who continually have helped and encouraged me in this work. (I have helped even out of hours.)

Sounding good Angel!

Can you lower the idle speed a little?

I'm curious, how many turns out is the idle mixture screw?

I didn't touch any screw yet. Just the screw in the throttle to lower to 1100-1000rpm because it was at 1500 when out of the box.

I don't know where to start. I supposed that I need to fix the trhottle cable to start. :smilie_happy:

Well I would tune it a bit at least by adjusting the idle mixture screw.
This could change your rpm a lot which could change your throttle cable length and positioning.

Adjust the idle speed down below 1000 rpm, 900 I think is best.
With engine warm, adjust idle mix screw 1/4 turn at a time in until idle speed begins to drop.
Turn out to fastest idle and stop there.

If the rpm ever goes above 1000 rpm, you need to slow it down and keep adjusting.
Reason is the secondary idle starts to kick in above 1000 rpm which will throw off your idle mixture adjustment.
