These are right up my alley now that the numbers on the sockets are getting hard to read without glasses:

These magnetic labels are real nice:

You know... those numbers on sockets are getting smaller every day, so those could serve a purpose. I just wonder how they will hold up to sockets that see a lot of oily use.

I can see that stuff being useful for the "hobbyist", or someone just starting out, but for folks like meself.....not so much. I know where everything is in all 3 of my big boxes, and I can tell the size of the sockets just by looking at them, new or old. I also wonder how well those decals/labels will stand up to any constant usage. The drawer labels are neat, but again, for me, not relevant. I have more than one type of tool in just aboot every drawer on any of my boxes. so a label on a drawer would be more for laughs than identity. But....I still think the ideas a good for someone who doesn't work with their tools all day, every day. :good:
What someone needs to come up with is a tool locator. Something you could maybe call with your phone to locate it, or a GPS system.....I spend more time looking for stuff that AIN'T in the box.... :smilie_happy: :smilie_happy:

I can do the same thing with 3/8" drive sockets: doesn't matter if it is metric or standard, but when it comes to the small 1/4" drive stuff, those little buggers are the ones that are hard to read and they are also the ones that roll away really fast and need that GPS locator! :smilie_happy:

I've got a toolbox drawer labeled.. Things that CUT, another one labeled; Things that Squeeze, and two more labeled "The other type of screwdriver". I used to be able to tell a metric size socket without reading but I'm slipping so I've begun looking for ways to put bigger numbers on the sockets. Those might work if they survive the environment.

Well, after nearly a year of use, most of the decals stayed in place, but on some of the most used sockets, the decals are half peeling. :cheeky:

I might have to try that Charlie! I like the labels, especially at clean up time!

If you clean them, that just wipes the oil away and that can lead to rust.

He has a point there... labels are nice but when I put the tools down they never seem to be where I left them 10 minutes before :head bang:

That's where my tool bag comes in.
I have everything in it to do anything that can come up on the bike.
Any trip out of the neighborhood, it goes in the trunk.
