hello i just bought a 82 GL1100 with a 83 GL1100I swap. its currently setup on single carb conversion with pict 2, it flooded, hence why im trying to use the 755A's (gl1000 year 75 if i have gotten it correctly). ive been reading and reading my heads starting to spin. im looking for some information on rebuilding them and anyone has any insight that would be great...

also, i do have another set of wheels, gl1200 false tank, battery covers.

thanks from New Jersey!

Welcome!

I think there's been a lot of mis-information regarding mixing and matching carbs from different year Goldwings. I seriously doubt any detectable performance difference could be detected by the "seat of the pants". I'd also not expect much measurable change either at the strip or on the dyno. "Some", but not "much".

Certainly, they'll work and can be made to run well. Perhaps not optimal for the cams/gearing/exhaust. But, you won't know the difference in cruising or touring, I'll wager.

Folks are sure to disagree here due to "lore" handed down, but I stand by this position. Unless empirically proven wrong.

Be sure to free up both the throttle linkage and the choke linkage. Choke linkage can move and still not move the butterfly.

They will work fine if the carbs are in good shape ...the 755a carbs are the biggest carbs made for the old wing 4s ...the cams were the most aggressive made for old wing 4s ...as desert said there not much difference really ..though I did modified a 1100 along with cams and it did run faster...best thing is to to carbs right ..that can be a process ....good luck..so the pictcarb wouldn't dial in good ..some get them good and some can't ..and it seems carbs vary in quality between bands

The carbs are not in good shape, they're rusty and have what I assume is calcium deposit from rain all over the outer... No air filter either so inside are nasty. I'm going to boil, soak Jets in PB blaster or carb cleaner. What's funny is that I actually have gl1000 head parts as well. I really need to get my hands on a good gl1000 and gl1100 manual for 75 and 83.

For cleaning small parts, an Ultra-Sonic cleaner is AMAZING.
