I’ve been on the hunt for a few days now trying to find information regarding adapting the 1500 pulse generators to the 1200’s - I don’t know if this is the forum where it’s been discussed or not but has anyone actually done this?

I know mine are cooked so replacing them with the stock parts can be done but I’ve been told the 1500 PG’s work better. Here’s the third old girl I’ve literally rebuilt from the front to the back.

I’ve never done but heard of. It....I’m sure it works ..probably mostly a mounting problem doing it...my speciality is turning 1200 into early 1000 setups ...making the 1200 motor a monster of powerhouse

The 1500 PG sensors and harness can be used; however, you will have to modify the engine mounting bosses. You will have to remove approximately 1/16" of the aluminum to get the 1500 sensors to align properly. Know this because my '85 LTD had one installed ('85 LTD only has one sensor in that area for the crank (Ns) - it's because the '85 LTD is an FI bike). I would recommend to replace with a new 1200 PG sensor harness, no modifications required and will be good for another 30 years.

Have you checked the resistance of the original PG sensors, should spec at about 300 ohms.

Aye - the resistance was fine on one of the PG’s @300ohms plus or minus 10% the other showed zip ha! I’ve got another set of 1200 PG’s on the way regardless so hopefully it’ll work just fine.
