When building my Kawasaki I had the luxury of a garage with a big support beam to attach a come along to but now I'm working out of a portable garage made with 2x4s. I'm thinking about this $130 Harbor Freight transmission jack for dropping the GL1200 engine and raising the bike for fork and rear suspension work. They have a 25% off one item coupon that expires today.

Any thoughts on that and maybe some pics or links to what you do and use? The GW is a big big bike.

I used two pairs of doubled 2x4s screwed together and screwed to a Harbor Freight furniture dolly. Ratchet strapped (no matter what you use) the engine to it and took the frame off of the engine.

I do most of my work on the centerstand, with a small jack under the front engine mount bolts to lift the front wheel. But I do use that HF style of roll-around jack to pull the engine. Fortunately I have a smooth concrete floor to work on.
