    Cowl/Fairing question.

I believe this is a dealer installed fairing. If that is the case, there's probably been many head light and turn signal take offs that's been trashed or stuck in some back corner or a box somewhere. Our friend said, I got this Honda in my garage that hasn't been ridden in awhile, is it worth...

    Cowl/Fairing question.

Ah come on now, Goldwing guys don't rat hole old parts, like us British bIke guys do,,,do they? Anyway, I've done some research, and this bike was built as a standard. I think we have a quest now to locate the front headlight, turn signals, and associated mounting equipment to make this bike a...

    Cowl/Fairing question.

The plate has 6/83. So no doubt it was an early one. This does have the EA before the numbers. So it appears it is a standard (naked?). The fairing has a multi wire receptacle that plugs into the harness. Looking at the wiring diagrams in the Clymer manual does not show the plug on the...

    Cowl/Fairing question.

Interesting that some say it is a GL 1100 fairing, because the vin ends in 000136, which I think would make it the 35th GL1200 made. I've not had any luck finding an online Vin decoder that works This isn't my bike, it's a friend's bike. He is the 2nd owner. The first owner was his cousin, and...

Thanks for the reply, I'll search for a photo of a naked 1984 goldwing.

    Cowl/Fairing question.

Thanks for the replies. I have searched for a vin decoder on the web and this forum and haven't found a reliable site. I'm not sure but I really think it is a standard that came with the cowl. I tried a couple of vin decode sites, some were restricted the other didn't work. Anyway, If Dave...

    Cowl/Fairing question.

This GL1200 (attached photo) project is, I guess an interstate? It does not have luggage. Somewhat minimal when compared to most GL1200 Goldwings. My question is; Is there a GL1200 without the cowl. Just a headlight only like the early Goldwings? Something that is not so massive? I have a...

    Fuel pump question

I'm wanting to use the fuel pump to pump the old fuel out of the tank. The fuel pump cutoff relay prevents that. Is there any reason why I can't apply 12v directly to the fuel pump? Thanks for all replies.

    Fuel Pump Question

I did some research, claydbal, you may be right. I found a new Honda made in Japan pump for $160. As for eBay, I have good luck with eBay both buying and selling.

    Fuel Pump Question

The fuel pump on this 84 GL1200 project is bad. I see eBay has two listed, an $80 ones and a $15 dollar ones. That can't be right?? Why such a big difference? Is the $80 one that much better?

    Parts source(s)

I'll check Goddridge. I've had Speigal build some for a BMW build I did a few years ago. We found a used one on eBay for $20, we'll try that first. Thanks

    Parts source(s)

We're trying to get this old girl running again so my friend can sell it. Who knows I may buy it? We've noticed that the non-running wings are priced anywhere from "how much $ to haul it off" to $500. The road ready ones list from $1500 to $2500. We're hoping to be somewhere between $300 to...

    Parts source(s)

The usual; brake lines, radiator hoses, carburetor linkage parts, etc. We found carb kits, and brake cylinder rebuild kits. We're having a rear brake line built. The bike has 35K on the clock, so the engine should be ok. My friend is the second owner, and claims it was running great when he...

    Parts source(s)

I'm helping my friend get his 84 GL1200 back on the road after it sat for many years and we are having trouble finding parts. Most of the parts are listed as "not available". Any suggestions?

    Exhaust recirculation tubing??

Duster, thanks for the reply. I think I saw a thread that used freeze plugs. I'm thinking about cutting the tubes off at the head connector, then use jb weld to plug the hole.
