I use a good silicon grease on those pins. It also helps keep the moisture out so they work easily for a long time. If cleaning the float pins doesn't do the trick then you will need to rebuild or replace the rear caliper.

I don't even want to veture a guess as to what I have in the yellow monster but it has been worth every cent. The bike puts a smile on my face every time I look at it. And you just can't beat the smiles per gallon it gets.

That bolt get torqued to a very high value of 58-69 ft.lbs. If you cannot get it torqued to that it will continue to come lose. I would avoid putting lock-tight on that piece, or at least not the "permanent" type anyway. If it continues to come lose and knock you could damage the stator, then...

Looks to me like your well on your way and plenty capable of having success. What kit are you using to rebuild? I would stay away from replacing any jets, floats, or needle valves. Only replace the o-rings and other rubber bits IMHO. Odds are many of those rubber bits were probably still good...
