Gl1200 Clutch Lever, should I bleed?

I use a good silicon grease on those pins. It also helps keep the moisture out so they work easily for a long time. If cleaning the float pins doesn't do the trick then you will need to rebuild or replace the rear caliper.

    1984 GL1200 Standard...Whats it worth?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Long time no speak, but I stalk often. I have a question for everyone. I have the possibility of purchasing a Black 1984 gl1200 Standard. The bike is in what I would consider to be very nice condition. Garage kept, same owner for 22 years, clean, titled...

    New Front End

Also I like to figure out where the start of the thread is on the cap, that point right when they want to fit together; mark that with a sharpie. Then when you are pushing down on that spring you at least know where the threads want to fit together to help also eliminate the possibility of a...

    Oh Oh

I don't even want to veture a guess as to what I have in the yellow monster but it has been worth every cent. The bike puts a smile on my face every time I look at it. And you just can't beat the smiles per gallon it gets.

    Engine knock

That bolt get torqued to a very high value of 58-69 ft.lbs. If you cannot get it torqued to that it will continue to come lose. I would avoid putting lock-tight on that piece, or at least not the "permanent" type anyway. If it continues to come lose and knock you could damage the stator, then...

1977 gl1000 runs and then dies

I see the problem, you are missing 3 carburetors! :smilie_happy: What type of ignition is on it? If it still has points check the gap on those as well. When I first got my 76 it needed carb work, which I meticulously did myself and then the bike still didn't run properly. One of my points...

    1979 GL1000 - Carburetor Cleaning

Thick white smoke to me sounds like coolant, but hard to tell for sure. When it comes to head gaskets I am a big supporter of getting OEM Honda crap, instead of after market who knows wtf it was made...crap. If you don't care one way or the other I have a set of head gaskets I can make you a...

    1976 Engine Rebuild

He did mention that he is going to make some engineering changes to the tool to try and make it work better and overcome the clearance issues it currently has. That's what the forum is all about. A community of like minded individuals working together for the greater good.

    1979 GL1000 - Carburetor Cleaning

Looks to me like your well on your way and plenty capable of having success. What kit are you using to rebuild? I would stay away from replacing any jets, floats, or needle valves. Only replace the o-rings and other rubber bits IMHO. Odds are many of those rubber bits were probably still good...

    1976 Engine Rebuild

I would just like to way in on this topic of the timing belt cover wrench... Randakk reached out to me to try and make me a satisfied customer. Yesterday we communicated and he fully refunded the money for the wrench, which I did not ask for. In no way did I feel persecuted or demeaned for my...
