My 84, all in $2500 cdn dollars, tires and timing belts change included

Welcome to the forum. Good looking bike! I need to do the brakes on mine, but I ride it (very carefully) anyhow. Rear brakes are almost non-existent, and the front hang up a little.

    what did you do today

First snow of the season. Just a dusting, but probably the end of riding for a while.:(

    what did you do today

Could not let such a fantastic day go to waste. Short easygoing road trip with Bridge97, who lives about 20 miles from me. After that I gassed up and put Stabil in the tank. Today was 70s, tomorrow is forecast low 50s. I used to ride year round, then I got old. If we have some decent weather, I...

new GL1000 owner, engine mount question

Welcome to the forum! I don't think the 1000s came with a single carb, but I could be wrong. Depending on how much it's been ridden there could just be some crap built up in the low speed circuits. Note my location. Ride sometime? I need to get at least one more ride in before winter.

    what did you do today

It's been a month since my GW moved, so I took it out for a short run today. I only went 26 miles round trip, but at least I blew some of the cobwebs out. She started instantly, and ran really well after short warmup. Can't go so long next time, but next time will probably be the Sta-bil ride...

1976 GL1000 - Cylinder #3 runs cold when on choke

That may not be possible. GW fever is very difficult to cure. (;-)

1976 GL1000 - Cylinder #3 runs cold when on choke

I haven't had to mess with mine at all, so I don't know if this makes any sense. Are the carbs all the same? What I'm getting at is, could you swap the position of two carbs and see if the problem follows the carb? I know there are all kinds of passageways in carbs, and some of them are...

1976 GL1000 - Cylinder #3 runs cold when on choke

Welcome to the forum. I'm no expert, but if it's warmed enough to run well off choke, it should be off choke. The purpose of the choke is to enrich the mixture for cold starting. If you want it to run at 3500 rpm, you should use the throttle - they sell a "cruise control" that's really just a...

    Temp Gauge

First I'd check the 7 volt regulator. Goldwingdocs.com has details, and I believe he sells them. I'm not sure if a shorted temp sensor wire would cause that issue or not, but that would be another place to look.

    1978 GL1000 resto project

Just make sure you change the timing belts. 5 year age out on them, and they give NO WARNING before failure, which can brick the engine. Steve OBTW: welcome to the forum.

    what did you do today

I finally got around to replacing my right mirror, due to a minor drop. She's been sitting for over a month, and fired up instantly. I had a little gas smell, then noticed a puddle on the floor. Main fuel line from the pump had a tiny split, so I replaced that too.

Open face shield necessary or not?

When my 750 got mad and threw me off (40 years ago!) I was wearing an open face helmet with a flat face shield. If I had not had a face shield, the front two inches of my face would have been on the roadway. I never tell anyone they have to wear good protection - it's your head. I still won't...

82 interstate refurbish project. My first Goldwing

There's an excellent video (probably 100 or more excellent videos) at . I used it to do my belts, and the bike runs great.
