Those tanks are pretty tough and made to last. I wouldn't be concerned besides, it's not like it would explode like a bomb, just start as a pinhole leak.

Ok, I'm not really that paranoid, but I was looking for some justification for destroying a salvageable compressor. My harbor freight compressor has better stats, but I'm guessing it won't last as long as this one would have. I really just wanted the tanks. I like the "open" frame on café racer bikes and wanted to do something different for my gas tank.

My current plan is to replace the faux tank side panels with these tanks, leaving the center section in place. I'll use some copper straps from the hardware store and fashion some hinge/straps so they'll pivot down like the sides do.

I was a little concerned if I was to use it for air. Your input is always appreciated :salute:

After cleaning the rust out and rinsing them a bunch, I had to figure out how to seal up the holes I drilled in the end of the tanks. I don't know how to weld, so out came the torch and solder. Soldering to steel was something new for me. I soldered floor flanges for 1" pipe over the holes, and the one will double as a fill neck.

I kept finding pin-hole leaks through the screw holes on the one flange when I pressured it up to 30lbs, so I just soldered them up. I've got some more tubing to put on for vents/proper flow, but it's a start.

The wife insisted I help her with haloween costumes and pictures today so that's it for this weekend, but here's my costume and bike.

Don't worry too much. :help: The solution is to stock up on candy. Then, when they crowd the streets, very carefully give each one some candy and they will go away. :whistling:

...except those three that follow me around. It doesn't seem to matter how much candy I give them, they won't go away... :hihihi:

"Want a piece of candy, little girl?" Our community frowns on old men giving candy to little kids. Don't know why.
Isn't that just messed up, huh

Just do it in the grocery stores. Let family pay for your generosity. :hihihi:

Bad news... she's going to be parked for the season. I took her for a cold ride to work on Tuesday and shortly before I got there, she started acting up. I figured out that I wasn't getting any spark on cylinder 3 and a very weak spark on its mate, cylinder 4. This is the coil that tested good and was not replaced two months ago. I'm bugging Dynatek tonight and we'll see how long my second replacement coil sits on the shelf before they send it to me.

It's too bad I didn't read about the C5 until after I had started running the Dynatek system...

:head bang:  :moped:

well bug there was a huge campaign to discount the c5 just like the single carb mod on oldwings ....when this happen i did everything i could to set the record strait ....and im not sure its done a lot of good ...the people against it were supposedly the most respected ....and they pulled some big weight and went after people like me and of course people like paul and gary of c5 and power arc the makers of this american made ignition .....and pushed lesser ignition as just fine ...well as things go the lesser ignitions had huge problems in the field and bikes stranded everywhere .....the fact it so fragile as in set up....today old wiring is all it takes to take them out ...when i read a story like you just said ..it pisses me off cause in a time of forums like this world wide ...it shows how thoughts or what ever prevented people from from knowing the c5 company ...discounts were base on nothing and showed no respect at all....to this day many are tainted by this baloney unfair info....to the point im not sure c5 cares for such dumb aggression of there product they are very successful with many other versions for other bikes and car.....witch in my opinion is the best after market product ever for a oldwing period ....even today after yrs of proof its not mention on other forums for oldwing favorably in most cases

having a programmable advance curve... 4 preset curves ....triple spark ,,,,one moving part ...and many other advantages means nothing .....it why i never followed the crowd....

LOL i like having the bike the crowd said wouldnt work ..cant be done .... it has bad ass single on it ...it is cooled not heated for power ...its 1200 motor made like early 1000s ....in a 1000 frame ....top off with 1200 gearing and swingarm....car tire on rear....gearing as tall as 1500 wings......1200 front wheel on 1000 forks beefed up with more springs in forks .....and top off with the best ignition out there for oldwings ....and even though it is road geared to travel ...im not worried about anybody running away from my bike at all.....its super fast.....and has log super lot of reliable miles this summer with many long road trips .....

im proud to part of a forum that endorses C5 it a fantastic product ... :thanks:

Well, the coil is off to Dynatek once again. I do have to say the tech support is really helpful. Larry suggested some troubleshooting and commented on a sketch of how I wired the ignition when I rewired the whole bike.

There's always a silver lining though, right? Well, since she's parked, I dug into her and thinned her out a bit.

Stock gas tank gone:

I removed my wiring job. I'm planning on doing that a bit different this time. I think I over-thought my wiring last time. Clean and simple will be the plan.

I think it will be nice to hide the battery under the seat here:

Anyone know if these Autocraft gold AGM batteries will work on their side? It says "non-spillable, maintenance free" on the side. I tried the "contact us" form on their website but got no response.

Was told A G M's were now installed on their side from the factory now days on some bikes. They don't slosh around like regular battery's do, more like a dry cell in that respect. Have used Deka A G M's, for more than 10 years with great results, they last at least 7 years & some as long as 10, & still worked. :salute:
