It’s some sort of switch with a wire going to it. Maybe for the passenger intercom?

That could be. My '82 was a standard and did not have that.

I be got about 500 miles on the bike and hardly anymore clutch squealing with the 10-40 oil. I’ll try the 15-40 Rotella next oil change.
