Tents are interesting in that the cost goes up as apparent quality goes up. Weight of tent is directly proportional as well, the lighter the tent, the more expense.

Dome tent or a more squarish tent? Height of the tent is important if you are a tall person. Not all one person tents have the same dimensions. Length is an issue for a tall person and if the walls slope inwards too quickly you will be hitting your head and feet on the walls. Sleeping pads may not fit.

Recommend you look for a two person tent. Today's two person tent is the one person tent of years gone by. It will let you store your belongings inside the tent.

Don't rule out a three person tent either. Some of these are quite small with a small floor print.

Look for a tent that has a "footprint". This is the tent ground sheet and protects that tent floor. Not a show stopper.

A tent fly that provides a bit of a vestibule is nice as well.

This picture shows the squarish design that keeps you away from the sides and ends of the tent. It's a two man tent:

Don't scrimp on the price or design. You can by the inexpensive one, it doesn't work, you get rid of it and buy another, cycle repeats itself. The monies spent can add up to that more expensive tent that would have ticked all the boxes in the first place.

Go to an outdoor store that may have the tent you have sourced on the internet. Ask to have it set up and then try it on for size.

Good luck.

I have a two-man Kmart pup tent that has to be fourty years old. Will probably disintegrate when pulled out of its bag. Academy sounds like a good resource for you.
