    single or double carb conversion

I vote for the single carb setup. I did the 34 PICT 3 on my '75 wing and I am very happy with the performance. It might not be as fast as it was when it was new, but I'm not as fast as I was 46 years ago. I have not experienced "carburetor icing" but I do live and ride in Texas. The...

What did you do to your Wing today ?

I'm sure it's big enough to see if someone is paying attention to their driving. If that wasn't the reason for your question; it's a '75 GL1000, naked.

What did you do to your Wing today ?

Not today, but Friday - crashed my Ol' Wing. About 4 blocks from the house, low speed, helmet on. I have no idea what happened. First thing I remember was waking to EMTs and police, seeing my bike laying on its left side, and a black Ford SUV parked next to it. They transported me to the...

What did you do to your Wing today ?

Well I went to the garage to work on the tappet noise coming from #2 cylinder. But before I got started I wanted to check the fit of the new sport fairing I ordered last week. It didn't fit because the stock headlight is too big. I remembered I had a H-4 headlight bucket for a CB750-F that I...

    what did you do today

I thought I joined this forum to see Classic Goldwings? But I do like vintage muscle cars and appreciate the pride of ownership. Nice Mustangs. And this thread is titled: what did you do today - not what did you do with you classic goldwing. I went out to the garage today to adjust the...

My 1st. Goldwing... My 3rd. Vintage Rebuild

Got the Ol' Wing inspected and licensed today - she's all street legal. :moped: Running real good except for the tappet noise coming from the left front (#2 cylinder). Thanking it has a mismatched rocker or worn cam lobe. Doesn't affect performance just makes an irritating noise. Wondering...

    what did you do today

I went riding again today, and each ride gets better. The bike is running real good with the 34-3 carb. At 60 MPH twisting the grip is like hitting passing gear. I also installed the Ride-off stand I got from BIB (from the Slabghost estate). Later, Bud...

pidjones: Thinks for the tach suggestion. It's working much better. Time for an update... Today was a good day for my Ol' Wing. I think I got it dialed-in. Not without a lot of false starts and retries, and who know with these old bikes tomorrow I might have to change something that's...

My 1st. Goldwing... My 3rd. Vintage Rebuild

I believe I am actually making progress. With the 40 idle jet (ordered from China) and the throttle cable tightened up about 4 turns the ol' gal starts right up, and holds an idle at about 1500. The mixture and idle screws seem to have little to no affect. Hope that will improved with the 35...

My 1st. Goldwing... My 3rd. Vintage Rebuild

Mike, thanks for the encouragement. I installed the new/used fuel pump and started the engine with the homemade 40 jet. The Ol' Wing started right up and I believe the idling is the best it has been since I started this conversion. I do have to hold the throttle open just a bit, but it stays...

My 1st. Goldwing... My 3rd. Vintage Rebuild

I sure wish I had some good news to report, but I don't. I would like to update that putting a 40 idle jet worked magic, but I haven't got it running again. The fuel pump quit last time I messes with the carb so I don't know if I made any improvement or not. Soldered the 60 jet I had and...

    Trixie went single today

I would like to update that the 40 idle jet worked magic, but I haven't got it running again. The fuel pump quit last time I messes with the carb so I don't know if I made any improvement or not. Soldered the 60 jet I had and drilled it out with with my Harbor Freight Micro Drills. Put it all...

    Trixie went single today

I am still trying to get my ol' wing to run/idle with the 34-3 carb, so I am still reading everything I can about how other folks got their's dialed in. My plugs are black, and it pops back through the carb with the air filter off. Idle is about 1500-1800 (which is not an idle). Rob, could...

My 1st. Goldwing... My 3rd. Vintage Rebuild

Well, the coolant is not leaking. That on the garage floor must have been from an over-fill-spill that came out when on the side stand. I topped off the coolant and rode into town today to buy gas (about 12 miles roundtrip), got home and no drips. But, she doesn't want to idle and has a surge...

My 1st. Goldwing... My 3rd. Vintage Rebuild

Been a while since I provided an update, so yesterday I made a point to accomplish something. Last week I finally got the correct caliper seal kit for the left front fork and got it installed. Looks like that fixed that leak. Then I proceeded to find out why the right rear turn signal...

Dusty and languishing in the shed

Welcome from east Texas, USA. You'll find a lot useful information from the folks here at Classic. I've been working on my '75 "wire wheel" Wing since December last year. Couldn't have done it without there help. Later, Bud...

My 1st. Goldwing... My 3rd. Vintage Rebuild

Right, some fun. :Awe: Seems every time I fix something, something else sticks its ugly head up. I finally got the rear brake parts in and finished putting all that together and bleeding the system. Now I have rear brakes (at least on the lift they seem to work ok). Then a few days later...
