    Tuktoyaktuk 2023 and Action Cameras

Made the deal - bought the sellers two Osmo Action cameras with accessories, and spare batteries: Have an adaptor coming so I can bluetooth the camera(s) to my SENA communicator for voice control. In the mail - should get these this week. Not a lot of inventory here north of the border. If I...

    what did you do today

Parts look good. Once parts are vapour blasted, polish to a high shine quite easily. This pic shows one part vapour blasted, and another polished after vapour blasting. After polishing coated with CERAKOTE MC5100 as a protectant. Used polish wheels on a drill.

    Emergency Satellite Phones

Starting to feel my age and mortality. My dad told me on my 50th birthday that I had fewer birthdays in front of me than behind, nice sentiment on one's birthday. Keeping with this thought train, I have been contemplating emergency satellite phones, of which I have a Delorme inReach Explorer...

    Tuktoyaktuk 2023 and Action Cameras

Plan B. The Garmin VIRB Ultra 30 units have not panned out. Not a lot of choice out there north of the border. Did a Canada wide Kijiji search for action cameras, models that I would accept. Found 2 Osmo Action units/kits with a good bevy of accessories - you can spend a small fortune on...

    Tuktoyaktuk 2023 and Action Cameras

Have been doing additional rsearch into the action camera world. Lots of choice as I have mentioned. Have been watching videos and video reviews. Since this is for my viewing pleasure and to do the modern "8 mm" camera thing from the '60s, invite friends and family over to watch your holiday...

    what did you do today

I have been having a difficult time lately. I have not had to work on any of my motorcycles, having withdrawals. All three bikes work! Walking into the garage without having something taken apart is not normal. Came up with a make work project, redid the belt tension on the Spyder. Did a...

Thinking about the Aspy. Long distance love affair always takes time.

    Best tyres for 1200 aspy

Best tires for my '85 Limited Edition - Michelin Commander II - 30K Kms. Second best Shinko Tourmasters, haven't worn out a set yet, but won't equal the Michellin.

    2021 RE Himalayan

Had another off road adventure yesterday. Back to the Diversion Dam, but the route was different. Out today for a ride off road. Met up at Mom's in Sooke for breakfast. Went back to the Diversion Dam, but took a different route. My riding partner is a wealth of knowledge of the local area...

    Tuktoyaktuk 2023 and Action Cameras

We are close to finalizing our trip acrosss Canada starting 10 June this year. Have chosen our trip for 2023, Tuktoyaktuk for the Midnight Sun Festival in Inuvik, and seeing the sun not set on approximately 21 June. My brother, Sonya and I will take a trip up there, stick our feet in the...

    2021 RE Himalayan

New tires installed, front is an Anlas Capra X, and rear a Mitas E07. Like the tread profiles. Did a road test this afternoon. The tires felt good even with a more aggressive tread. The YSS suspension is firmer that the OEM suspension. Have dialed down the rear shock rebound damping so it...

    2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan

Started planning our trip to Tuktoyaktuk for next year. Think I mentioned this in my bike log. We have two dates that are a must keep, 21 June for the solstice, and 5 July return for Sonya's doctor's appointment - can't move. So everything before 21 June is good and we have 14 days to get...

    2021 RE Himalayan

Went for another ride on the Diversion Dam road. It's a good learning road going from easy hard packed dirt riding with lots of road room to a narrow, pot hole/tree branch/water filled crator road. Much better and a bit easier second time round. I've mentioned in some of my other threads that...

    2021 RE Himalayan

Spent the past couple of days installing the YSS suspension upgrade. Looked on the internet for information regarding the front fork suspension install such as air gap, amount of oil, which way to install the fork springs. Found these parameters: air gap 150 mm fork oil 410 ml fork springs go...

    Shinko 712 tires

I'm using Shinko Tourmasters on my '85 Limited Edition - work well. If I was putting a lot of mileage or doing touring two up, Michelin Commander II. Tried the Shinko Tourmasters on my-ex 1800, same experience as pidjones, did not last long. CT on the back and Michelin on the front, good to...

    what did you do today

Went for a 100 Km or so ride yesterday in the local area. The theme for the ride was to do a loop and not ride twice on the same road, can cross over, but not ride on it. Managed to do it, Sonya got a chuckle out of the trip. Stopped for coffee/tea/treat at My Chosen Cafe in Metchosin. Nice...

    Bluetooth adapter for 1200 aspy?

Here's hoping. Looked at the distance, it's like riding across Canada. Do you have a helmet communicator? Sena has the SM10 for acccessories.

    2021 RE Himalayan

Discussed the front suspension with the local dealer. Mentioned the Andreani front fork cartridge kit. He has the YSS suspension on his Himalayan, and mentions that it does a very adequate job. Will do the YSS upgrade first, but keep the door open to the Andreani.
