1988 GL1500 Gear position switch needed.

Still looking. Where are the good motorcycle recycle centers (AKA junk yards)?

1988 GL1500 Gear position switch needed.

That is the reverse lever switch, but please don't get discouraged. According to the Honda parts fiche, the gear position switch (35759-MN5-003) is no longer available for 88 to 97 GL 1500s. Looks like reverse won't be a working option on the 1500 eventually unless some after market supplier...

You can repair the rusted thru fuel tank (if you want to) using JB Weld Tank Epoxy. Follow the instructions on the package.

    Just whining

I'm selling my bikes because my back won't let pickup a bike if I drop it. So far, the 78, 85, and 86 trike are gone. I still have an 84, an 86, and an 88 that need homes. The 84 has a leak at the back of the engine.

1978 Goldwing GL1000. 65,384 miles, Windjammer SS fairing, saddle bags and Vetter trunk. Ran when parked inside (2015), needs carburetor kits installed (on-hand). Very good candidate for restoration. Includes extra motor. Asking $1000. Time to give up on 2 wheels.

    GL1200 Stator Test Procedures

It may be cheaper to go with an external alternator, if you fabricate your own brackets. I took that route with my 86 Aspi and don't regret it.

    Final Drive swap??

"Longer"?? Lower ratios give you higher speed at lower RPMs and increase MPG; higher ratios give you quicker acceleration, but increase RPMs and lower gas mileage. From Goldwingsdoc.com " 1980 & 1981: Primary reduction: 1.708 Secondary reduction: 0.973 Final reduction: 3.091 Gear ratios: 1st...

    The value of a restoration?

Decisions are only needed when you have more than one possible answer. In this case, there is no alternative.

Found possibly a bargin, is it worth it?

My 78 doesn't have a kick starter. Sometimes I wish it did (when the battery goes dead).

    Oops! I did it again...

Yes, you need at least 3 Wings. 1 to ride, 1 to shine and 1 to wrench. Also, be on the lookout for a Gl1000 to round out your collection. Then the Valkyrie and then an 1800. Then open your own museum and charge admission. Oh, don't forget the Silver Wings. You could go far with this idea...

    Speedo drive question

You can check speedometer accuracy several different ways. Use GPS to see your current speed and compare that to your speedo reading. Make a mental note how far off your speedo is and keep that in mind when you go over the posted limit. But nobody does that, right? No GPS? Use the mileage...

    Stay At home

Spent the day repairing the engine cradle on a Fiero. 32 years of road salt nearly destroyed one mounting tower, so I scraped, ground, wire brushed, cut new metal and shaped to fit, then wire-welded it all together. Tomorrow, I clean up everything and paint the cradle to slow down future rust...
