I found an abandoned Wing and I must save it

My mechanic has had an early 80s Interstate sitting out back for several years. He got it running a couple years ago but has left it sit since. I can't stand it anymore. I asked him to find a home for it instead of letting it rust and he said "make me an offer". Me: "Do you have the title?"...

What did you do to your Wing today ?

I paid it a visit in the garage. "Soon, my dear. Soon I shall free you from this prison of junk and you will run free again!"

    1971 CB 175 no title, $250. Should I?

I really wanted to, but I did not bring it home. He even dropped the price to $150! I even risked a few hundred $ in tickets to drive my unregistered truck to get it! The pictures didn't show the real condition. It was very, very rough. No lights. All the chrome was rusted. BUT it did fire right...

THE GAME IS ON! I just talked to the guy, leaving to see it right now!

    1971 CB 175 no title, $250. Should I?

Yes, I've looked into it. There's the official method in PA which requires a court appearance and takes months. There's also the method everyone really uses. Nevada and I think Connecticut will let out-of-staters apply for a new title for a fee. They will run the VIN to make sure it's not stolen...

    1971 CB 175 no title, $250. Should I?

Another title can be had for about $200. I'd like to see this rescued! It looks like it's in pretty good shape. I know bikes this size aren't worth a lot but it deserves to live! What say you?

:cheeky: Someone snagged it. Drat! We can only hope by someone that will put it back on the road.

77 Honda Goldwing 1000 for sale in Alburtis on Facebook Marketplace - Does not run and no title FREE I've already emailed that I want it. No, I begged her to let me get it so I can save it from being scrapped. I sold my ramp weeks ago. Don't know how I'll get it in the truck. I'll figure...

What did you do to your Wing today ?

Now that it's ridable I will do some more on the Wing. Still have to get the idle fixed. The exhaust will come off to be painted properly and the ride-off centerstand put on. Then there's fork rebuild.

What did you do to your Wing today ?

Riding season returns to Pennsylvania :rocks: ! I didn't work on the Wing yesterday but I did re-legalize the Kawa and ride it a bit for a Spring shakedown after 18 months of sitting. Star Tron and Sea Foam work. It's had the same treated gas in it since Fall of 15 and it started and ran fairly...

Dunlop Tyre Technical Division Wobble and Weave 1975

Last year I asked about the 8 pound hunk of iron bolted to the fork on the Interstate. I think this vid sheds some light on the topic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3OQTU-kE2s

PICT 34 carb fuel draining and hydrolocking

It runs! It only runs on choke but the idle needs to be set. It fired up as soon as the carb got gas. Now if my manifold isn't full of gas in the morning, I'm going to say I found the problem. :music:

PICT 34 carb fuel draining and hydrolocking

New (old) carb came today. Gen-u-ine German Solex. It looks really good inside. All passages were clear. Whoever stored it knew enough to not leave gas in it. I'm running the leak test now. I should be able to stick it on tomorrow! It hit me that my very uneven idle could have been the fault of...

Short of sawing the carb in half to see what's in there there's nothing left I can do. I have bought a real sole and should have it by the weekend.

Yes, the solenoid could be defective. The bowl will drain into the engine even if the petcock is closed. If it's open it will drain the carb then the tank until a cylinder and the manifold is full to the level of the tank. Everything I found on checking the solenoid said "if it clicks, it...
