    Rear brake pedal

That scraping could be caliper piston not moving far enough...or something in the mounting setup. Is the rotor close to centered in the caliper? Is the caliper crooked compared to the disc? I have that problem with the rear brake on my harley. They/we can't figure it out so I'm good at...

    Rear brake pedal

First thing I did to prove my theory was measure the distance the return port needs to be open. Then measure how much room the piston takes up. I found the piston still covered the port when in the retracted position.. I think I took more pics, I'll look. Yup, here's the link...

    Return to Vintage wiring woes

I suggest you get a factory (oem) manual for your year, it will have the correct diagram. Then a book on basic electronics to learn the symbols. If any additions have been made to your harness, removing those first will help. No, you're not allowed to used "scotchloks!, get proper parts from...

    motorcycle lift

Getting up off the floor is the hard part! Lying down is nice 'cause my floor is heated, but the risk of a nap is always present. To get the centerstand down with this wheel vise, requires strapping down the front to jack up the back, then the stand goes down.

    motorcycle lift

Yes, you can centerstand on a HF lift, but... if you have a wheel vise that prevents forward motion, a jack is needed to get the centerstand down. (It's outside in the driveway to do a little sandblasting on the frame )

    Lonely here....

Well I shoveled a path to the workshop and turned the heat up. Time to get back on my cafe project. No, not the wing, but the 82 cb650sc that's been modified and experimented on for the last three years. Maybe this year it will get ridden

    Gl1100 Front brake bleeding tip

Yup, brakes are my least favorite job due to the fluid ending up everywhere it shouldn't be!

    Gl1100 Front brake bleeding tip

Two things I've noticed while swearing at the new master cylinder... 1. Sometimes I have to remove the line to the MC and put my thumb over the outlet to prime the master cylinder. 2. I use the compressor from an air conditioner or refrigerator as a vaccuum pump attached to the bleeder with a...

    Update

Glad to hear you survived! That was a horrible crash. Just noticed you're near me in Palm Coast (when I'm down there).

How to wakeup an old wing???

My first wing was a fun rescue, because I didn't know anything about them. It must have been fun, because now I have 5 of them.

How to wakeup an old wing???

I suggest you pull the valve covers and turn it over by hand to check for sticky valves. I bent a valve with the starter when it stuck upen too long. Change the belts before you run it much.

    Welders

I picked up this HF tig machine a few years ago for $200. I'm still not good enough with it to use it for a project, but after a homemade pedal to adjust the knob I'm getting a little better with it.

Cobra427, yes the neg. cable from batttery goes to left engine mount in most old hondas, but I wanted to make sure he didn't go through batteries and starter rebuild when the only problem is a bad ground like mine. Plus side was I got good at reassembling the starter.

Running on less than 4 cylinders

Test your plug caps & wires. Mine was cutting out in the rain once, turned out the drains in the plug-well were plugged. Does '79 still have points? Might check condition of those too.

    I. Just read your whole post, welcome to the fun. I have a few comments and maybe some help. 1. The starter gets it's ground where it touches the engine case, so clean those contact points! 2. The bolt on the side of the starter has a wire attached on the inside, DON'T turn the bolt, only the...

    what did you do today

Dragged the bike outside to sandblast the rust near the rear master cylinder. Much easier than a wire wheel. Then wrapped it back up to repaint. Does anyone have a suggestion for a better match than duplicolor for honda frame black?

    Welders

I got a lincoln mig welder, 110v with c25 & argon bottles. It takes care of all my small jobs quite nicely. I think it was about $450 at the time 12 years ago.

    what did you do today

Not for the 1000's, and no points on an '83. Clymers manual won't cut it for this one, but I think it's covered now.
