    Oil

Just my opinion, I'd recommend almost any 5W40 or 15W40 Diesel truck CK-4 rated oil as they do not have any friction modifiers and most are safe for the big rigs automatic transmissions clutches. The FK-4 have friction modifiers for better fuel mileage but may rune the clutches. The Shell...

    Oil

"Honda requires a high detergent, premium quality motor oil to meet the original SE/SF classification........"This was true, WAS. But all modern engine oils are SM, SN and even SP now. They have changed the additives a lot since SF. Use what you want in your bike but I'd advise caution in using...

    Oil

The wet clutch needs a JASO MA rated oil (Japanese Automotive Standards Organization). Most car oils do not have this rating. That said, I have been running Shell Rotella T6 5W40 synthetic in all my bikes since the 1990's. The newest is JASO MA-2, safe for catalytic converters. They are...

Single Carb Conversion 2 Barrel Progressive Holley,Weber 740 carb

This SCC mod is the first step in getting a good running bike. The next step up is going Fuel Injection. You can get 2 sets of Suzuki Burgman 650 throttle bodies and make runners to mount them where the stock CV carbs were. Then wire in a 'Mini-Squirt' controller to fire all 4 injectors. Go...

Single Carb Conversion 2 Barrel Progressive Holley,Weber 740 carb

I have a few Webers laying around but never got around to doing this mod. This SCC mod, a better alternator and axe the stator, the C-5 ignition mod and I think you'd have a good touring ride. :whistling: Too bad you were not closer, I'd let my 1980 GL1100i go just to free up space. Needs...

    Riding Days are Over

My commute was 17,000 miles per year with little JOY riding. Now after retirement I am doing about 1,500 miles all JOY riding. In June 2018 I am planing a 1,900 mile road trip from Seattle area to Jasper and Banff AB Canada and return down thru Vancouver BC. A fellow EX-Burgman 400 rider now has...

    1156 and 1157 led bulbs?

One thing to remember is the factory voltage regulator is a SHUNT to ground so any amparage the Stator is putting out that is not used will be shunted to ground so saving power for gas mileage WILL NOT HAPPEN. ;) But if you do the alternator mod and get rid of the stator, good to go. Doing this...

    Riding Days are Over

Its a tough job, but someone HAS to do it. I have had my azz handed to me by a few Harleys but mostly the newer twin cam models. But when one comes down an on ramp, looks over in the HOV lane and see's a Scooter, 9 times out of 10 they till bust over 80 MPH just to get in front of me. They...

    Riding Days are Over

Also, I still have my 1980 GL1100i. I have two sets plans for a reverse trike, 1 is called IndyCycle and the other is Xzilarator. These both will accept a Goldwing engine mounted in the back and has two wheels up front. https://www.indycycle.net/main.htm https://www.prismz.com/xzilarator/

    Riding Days are Over

I too can not flip my leg over a standard seat, let alone a seat with a huge back rest. I also can not pull in a clutch lever in stop and go traffic. This is why I started riding a LARGE 650 cc scooter, 185,000 miles ago. It is an automatic CVT and has a "Step Thru". It weighs about 620 pounds...

    New Front End

WOW! That 20W50 is a 50 weight based oil when its warm. So like Dan said, "How is that working out?"

    New Front End

What fork oil did you use? I have for years used Dexron ll but on my latest rebuild on my Burgmans front forks I used Valvoline ATF+4 as it is a "TESTED" 10.5 weight. There are charts out there, old but still good info, that showed one manufactures 15 weight was as thin and another companies 5...

    Bluetooth intercoms

I am a bit late but... I am using a SENA 10S and it tunes in local FM stations well. When I am doing a small group ride it PARE's well with other makes too. I can also answer my cell phone just by saying "HELLO" when I hear the ring. As far as distance, I have talked to a fellow rider 1000 feet...

    Darksidin with the Dragon....

I have been on the Darkside for over 180,000 miles on my 650cc scooters. I have gone back to M/T's a few times but do come back to a Car Tire. So much better all around. It also corrects the speedo error of 10% to about 1% so when I am doing 70 MPH on my speedo I'm doing a true 69 MPH. Before I...

    Oiling system on GL1100

I think I will do the GAS powered Reverse Trike using the Goldwing 1100 engine and add the electric system later. I found a better front suspension that will allow me to run halfshafts up front, and the costs are real cheap in Pick-A Parts. 1999 Dodge Stratus has unequal length control arms...

    Oiling system on GL1100

I plan on 235/65 HR 18's X 3 and that is about 150 pounds. They are wider than I wanted but they are 30.25 inches tall and the helps with the Subaru's low gearing. The Subaru rear end is 3.9:1 and flipped over. I will have to figure a way to make sure that the pinion and ring gear are lubed.
