    Rear Brake MC Rebuild

When Tom at TrueDisk finished re-surfacing the rear rotor, it measures 6.4 mm. So I'm good by 0.4 mm. It looks nice, too. But I only had mine re-surfaced, not also drilled. $45 plus shipping. He knew about the 6.00 mm service limit, BTW. See : https://truedisk.net/

    Rear Brake MC Rebuild

Well, it looks like I have an answer - I bled the front right / rear brake calipers and the pedal is nice & firm now. A lot better than it ever has been. It moves only about 3/4 inch when I press it fairly hard with my hand ( less than an inch ). So, I'm satisfied with that. BTW, removing...

    Rear Brake MC Rebuild

Duster : Thank's what I think, too. Is that the way it is on your GL1100 ?? For comparison, I would like a reply from someone who has a GL1100.

    Rear Brake MC Rebuild

I bought a nice '83 GL1100I a few years back and I have been working on it, off & on since then. I thought the last thing I needed to do was have the rear disk re-surfaced. There is a guy in Michigan who does that for $45 and I had that done recently. After re-installing the rear disk, I...

    GL1100I radiator hoses

Thanks for that explanation. I used the opposite end for the short lower hose since the lower hose also has a slight formed bend. I didn't want to take a chance of it kinking also. But ya, how you cut it should be OK.

    GL1100I radiator hoses

NAPA 7733 is equivalent to the Gates 21008. Without the 90 degree bend, it looks like it will have a kink. I'm a lot more comfortable buying both the 21008 and 21029 and using part of the 21029 for the upper hose. It has the molded 90 degree bend and won't kink.

    GL1100I radiator hoses

I have read on this Forum that a Gates 21008 hose can substitute for the coolant hoses. I believe I read that it can be cut and part of it used for the lower radiator hose and also the upper radiator hose. Well, I decided to replace my hoses after changing my timing belt, so I bought a Gates...

IBA Pre-Approved Rides starting & ending in Michigan

Forgot about the front suspension, Tom. Yup, need to install the Sonic straight wound springs ( a little less than the RaceTech springs ) and the RaceTech Emulators. Parts have been received , just need to find the time to install them. After I do that, I'll give the front end a test on my...

IBA Pre-Approved Rides starting & ending in Michigan

Tom: I'm hoping next year to ride my GL1100I on the MIO SS1K Ride. Then I can put the IBA plate backer on it. Doesn't feel right to me to put a backer on a bike I own without actually doing a ride with it first. But need to replace the timing belt and tensioner pulleys before then. And...

IBA Pre-Approved Rides starting & ending in Michigan

slabghost : Hope you can find time to join us on a ride in the future. Keep an eye on the IBA Calendar at ironbutt.com . I should have at least two scheduled rides next year out of Grand Rapids, and another BIG ride ( around all the five Great Lakes ) that will start & end in Kalamazoo...

IBA Pre-Approved Rides starting & ending in Michigan

That would be great if your neice could do the ride. I'm trying to generate some interest for the Gals to do some of these rides. I have promoted the ride with the MC Beemer Club. They have several female riders, one that already has her IBA number.

IBA Pre-Approved Rides starting & ending in Michigan

Fantastic, Will !! We need as many Wing's as possible. But I'm not sure Jim Mick will be with us this year. And Ted moved to Arizona. I thought this Forum might get a few more Wing Riders interested in getting their IBA number & IBA license plate backer. Next year, I plan on riding my...
