smoke coming out of ignition module?

Ebay used shocks. Around 14.5 inch if memory serves me. The shocks were too short, it would bottom out on the rear fender. I sold that bike.

Still no progress over here. I've been too busy trying to just make a living...

Diy hydraulic lowering rear air shocks -monroe 785

Correct, there is no reason it wouldn't work. There are thousands of examples of it working on other bikes and the only thing different about a wing is minor fitting issues like how you choose to mod the lower shock mount to fit in the swingarm or how you choose to shorten the kickstand. Should...

Diy hydraulic lowering rear air shocks -monroe 785

No, sorry, other stuff got in the way. All the parts are here ready to be put on, but i just haven't had the will time and energy to take the bike apart and do more work on it while the weather was still letting me ride. (Lost a whole riding season working on it last year.) I need to pull my...

Diy hydraulic lowering rear air shocks -monroe 785

I'm not trying something untested here with these. Tons and tons of harley guys report they work better than harley showa air shocks, I think they are the same shocks as on gl's. Most of the reviews on amazon are from using them on harleys, not cars, so you can read their opinions on ride...

Diy hydraulic lowering rear air shocks -monroe 785

The bike would fall over while parked just from the slightest slow leak if you don't chop the kickstand is the first main issue.

Diy hydraulic lowering rear air shocks -monroe 785

More people haven't done it because as far as I can tell, gl owners didn't know about them until I just mentioned it. I searched the internet pretty thouroughly and could find no gl's using these. Since nobody has done it, I'm sure not going to try to convince you either. I would suggest you...

Diy hydraulic lowering rear air shocks -monroe 785

Cool. Don't forget you'll need to chop your kickstand. Mine is already shortened for 11" shocks but it will need to be shortened again.

Diy hydraulic lowering rear air shocks -monroe 785

I have to check when they get here and I get them on, next week sometime. I do intend to raise my rear fender if needed so it will drop all the way and not cause a crash and allow me to at least limp home. I think it might clear already but not sure. I don't have a stock rear fender, so it will...

Diy hydraulic lowering rear air shocks -monroe 785

Can one of you guys tell me what the max amp draw would be from a proper gl1100 battery? And or with the bike on and off, using a relay. I need to see what pump I would be limited to if I wasn't running a battery less than half the size I should be. I don't have the right battery to look at...

Diy hydraulic lowering rear air shocks -monroe 785

Yes air pressure alone. When completely aired down they ride like a rigid. They usually sell around $65 a pair. I chose these after seeing I would pay that much just for rusty used stock shocks with torn boots off eBay. I can run them standalone with a fixed amount of air and save some cash up...

Diy hydraulic lowering rear air shocks -monroe 785

Has anyone tried installing a monroe 785 based diy bagger style adjustable lowering air ride setup like this on an 1100 or 1200? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sa6zjIJWHtY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sa6zjIJWHtY It's based on using air shocks for early corvettes that have over 4" of...

Tire ate my brake line, oops. Stainless lines questions

What do you mean about rear hose fit? My 83 is a standard, looks like a straight shot from the end of the hard line to caliper as far as I can tell. (Mine never had the proper length hose, I put a front hose on the rear the first time around but it was so extra long I had to heavily tie wrap it...

Tire ate my brake line, oops. Stainless lines questions

I have an 83 standard and was looking at getting the HEL kit. However my bike has short 2" rise euro sport handlebars. Should I see if they will make mine custom length to fit the bike better as is or just go with standard lines? I've also read elsewhere here that some 83's are 10x1.25 and...

83 turn signals, two flasher modules and hazard lights?

ok thanks. What is the 9 pin flasher control module in the 84 schematic? Is that an electronic box I can do without? I don't see this on my bike. Maybe a picture of what it looks like could help, I'm not sure what I'm looking for other than something with a 9 pin connector.

83 turn signals, two flasher modules and hazard lights?

Well I looked over a few schematics, the closest I could find to what I seem to have is the 84. (but it doesn't show it as having two flashers or hazards that I could see) My fuse box has 5 blade type fuses though and that seems to match the 84 diagram not the 83. That 84 schematic shows the...

83 turn signals, two flasher modules and hazard lights?

Yes the turn signal switch assembly on the bars has a hazard switch on top. Slides left to right. The sticker on the frame confirms it is an 83 standard, I checked. I am told the engine is an 84 as that is the only year 1200 which would fit in my frame without frame modification. (and my frame...

83 turn signals, two flasher modules and hazard lights?

My bike is a frankensteined monster and I'm having trouble figuring out how to get the turn signals working. The wiring diagram for an 83 standard on this site doesn't show this bike as having two three prong flasher modules like my bike has, and it doesn't show a hazard light switch like my...

I got to ride it for the first time ever after months of work, a couple questions:

Thanks for the info. I will look into replacing those parts next time I have it apart. For now I just put brake caliper mount grommets in there too cover the hole. I'm in the middle of primer on all the body parts ATM. It took a lot of fiberglass repair, filling and sanding to get the body...
