    Another 1800 project

So another 1800 project is coming my way. This time Scott found us a 2005 that supposedly just needs plastics, which we happen to have an abundance of. We talked the guy down to $1200 and he volunteered to deliver it to us (about a 2 hour one-way trip). The bike will be delivered next Saturday...

    New job

So I've been unemployed for about a month, but the good news is i start orientation Monday at a casino to be a slot technician! I'm really looking forward to learning a new skillset. Also, my buddy has not been able to sell the 1800 yet, so I may still end up with the newer wing! Sent from my...

    Chrome paint

On the new wing I'm getting, there are some chrome add-on pieces that are showing some wear. Has anyone had luck with the rattle can chrome paints available looking close to the original finishes? I have heard that a gloss black base then the chrome top layer is the best way to go, but I wasn't...

    Trixie went single today

I know, I know, it's about darn time! I've had my single carb kit for a couple years now, and today was the day! I gotta tell ya, she's running better than ever! I know there will be some fine tuning as I go along, but I am impressed so far! I do have a question, what have you all done to hook...

    Near future project

So a buddy of mine just bought a wrecked 2001 1800 off of eBay for pretty cheap, should I post a repair thread as we get into it? 1800 aren't quite classics yet, but it is 16 years old...oh, and it just may end up in my stable when we're done! I'm taking a trip

Hello everyone! First of all, if the moderators don't allow this post, I understand. In August I'm going back to the Dominican Republic with my church to do some work in a poor village near the Hatian boarder. I am in need of help to get there, I need to raise an additional $800 by June 10th for...

    Adding an in-seat backrest

Does anyone know of an aftermarket backrest that can be added into the seat? I have one that straddles the seat, but the side supports dig into my wife's legs. I googled it, but nothing particularly comes up for the GL1000. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using Tapatalk

    Gasket sets

I will eventually be doing a complete tear down and rebuild of my '78. I have read here that Honda gaskets are preferred, but I am wondering what your thoughts are on some of the other gasket makers. I plan on buying a complete gasket set and haven't found one from Honda, but I can find Vessera...

    Chrome

I am wondering if there is a good way, or any way really, to get rust and pits out of chrome without having said pieces re-chromed? I've noticed quite a few pieces gathering rust and such and I'm trying to decide how to deal it. Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk

    Bucket List Trip

Well, I've been thinking about this for quite a while and I'm going to commit to something I never thought I'd do. I'm going to ride my '78 oldwing across this great country we call the USA. I'm 47 now and, since a trip like this doesn't happen over night, I'm giving myself until I'm 50 to plan...

    Solid state rectifier regulator

Ok, I was reading on here a while back and someone was talking about they had replaced these two components with one new solid state unit. I cannot find that thread so I'm putting it out there, is there a particular u it that is preferred, or how about a link to a known good source for these...

    Road trip

I watched "Long Way Down" and "Long Way Round" with Ewan McGregor a couple of weeks ago and while I don't want to go on a 20,000+ mile trip, it does get me wanting to go across the 48 contiguous states. I would definitely need to do a thorough going through, I would love to take my '78 oldwing...

    Air Cleaners

I have a solex carb with a 2" neck and I am having trouble finding an air cleaner for it. Does anyone have a link or brand for one? I struck out at O'Reilly.
